So I've read her bio and the article about the Soulsword but I'm still confused about how she manages in combat situations in the modern X-Universe. I always see her brandishing her Soulsword upon eterning combat situations but since her Souldsword does not affect non-magical things (except Kitty when she is phased), what would happen if she were to face Sentinels or other mutants? It's not like she's fighting magical beings or breaking spells on a daily basis.

P.S. Sorry for possible repost. I created a new topic and it thought I posted it.

Her sword helps her to better utelize her teleporting abilities (more accurate teleporting) and the sword comes with a (partially) armor: the parts of her body that are covered are protected against physical assault.

It's also psychological warfare: if she swipes her sword through someone he/she will be shocked; by the time they realize that the sword hasn't done anything to them, precious seconds will have been waisted so they can be knocked out by someone else.

don't forget the sword sometimes has the ability to do damage to non magical entities... Pixie's souldagger exorcized a digitalized Malice out of Omega Sentinel and Illyana was also able to kill several of Legion's personalities...
Magik also van perform magical spells in this realm... not as powerful and potent as in Limbo, but she can...

On a related topic... I don't get that if she's such a competent swordswoman, she only relies on a soulsword in battle... If she would also carry a regular sword, she would be much more dangerous than she already si.
Some people deverse a high five! In the face! With a chair!

Few X-Men walk around with blatantly lethal weaponry.  For the company, it's an image thing, they put more emphasis on the powers than on the weapons.  This holds true even for the people who probably would be better served by carrying around weapons -- such as how David Alleyne and Danielle Moonstar are both depowered mutants but only one chooses to enter into battle while armed.

But she already has a sword that, forget precedent, basically cuts whatever the writer wants and can be summoned at will.  Why would she burden herself with a second regular sword that she has to lug around everywhere?
