Has it ever been officially stated what planet the Symbiotes (Venom, et al) are from? Or how they get around, what their culture (if any) is like? Do we know anything about their origin?

Conflicting stories. It was shown in one story that they were a conqueroring race that feed on emotions, while another said they were a peaceful race that believed in diversity. Otherwise, no nothing else really.
