Is the Negative Zone its own dimension/universe, or are there parallels in the multiverse? Is there only one Negative Zone, or is there one for 616, 842, 50852, etc?

Explanations vary.

Some sources have claimed there is only one Negative Zone. In Heroes Return, the lost Avengers and Fantastic Four on Franklin Richards' Counter-Earth needed to travel through the Negative Zone to properly return Earth-616., using it as a waystation. This, however, may have been necessary only because Franklin, who created the Heroes Reborn reality, did not create a full parallel Negative Zone. Similarly, Annihilus remembered the Fantastic Four when Blink visited the Negative Zone during the Age of Apocalypse, suggesting only one Zone. The reality disrupting effect of LegionQuest and the M'Kraan Crystal simply may not have crossed the matter/anti-matter barrier by this point, though.

During Annihilation, a different explanation was proposed. Annihilus claimed that the positive matter universe was encroaching on his territory in the Negative Zone. In other words, there is a finite amount of "space", and because our universe is continuing to expand from the Big Bang, it is expanding INTO the occupied space of the Negative Zone, making it smaller as we grow larger. Because each universe expands separately (and at different rates according to Exiles and other alternate reality storylines), there must be a Negative Zone for each positive matter universe, like a yin and yang. Of course, Annihilus has always been, technically speaking, batsh*t insane, and the scientific support for his explanation is unknown.
Charisma: the fine line between winning them over with charm and ruling them by fear.

Thanks Monolith.  Yeah I've been re-reading Annihilation, and I remembered the whole Blink/Annihilus thing.  Kinda gave me a headache, haha.  If there is indeed only one Negative Zone, and positive universes are encroaching on it, I can't imagine how quickly the Zone must be shrinking, as there are an infinite amount of universes growing into Negative Zone space.

But then again, I suppose it makes total sense for each universe to have their own Negative Zone (the yin/yang thing).  But it does beg the question as to why Human Annihilus would remember the 616 Fantastic Four.  I suppose it would also make sense for the Negative Zone to be a sort of "in-between" dimension to all realities, though you would think they would have more travelers than just the people from 616.  With an infinite amount of universes, you would think a lot more of them would use the Negative Zone to get to other places - for example, that could be a mighty convenient way for Nova and Starlord to get back to 616 from the Cancerverse.  (Though if there are lots of travelers in the Negative Zone from other universes, it's entirely likely that we haven't heard about them because we are primarily concerned with the 616verse.)

Didn't the Ultimate Universe have it's kinda-sorta Negative Zone thing they called the N-Zone?
Alex I do everything like a hawk.
This isn't DC Comics -- Marvel continuity doesn't die out if you don't water it often enough.
The whole Batman idea is a very childish response to childhood trauma.

There are definitely alternate reality Negative Zones connected to various alternate Earths. We've seen too many alternate versions of the Zone and of Annihilus for it to be in doubt. However, the Zone's instability does seem to intermittently put it into contact with other realities, so you sometimes can use it to transit from one alternate Earth to another.

Yes. It's where the FF and Dr Doom got their powers.
