I agree, it must have something to do with AvsX. Probably half way the story we get a new faction of X-men (another Schism) with eXtreme methods. Probably led by Cyclops, because he is so certain of his course that anything goes and he can't do nothing wrong. He is going X-treme!
If a issue is replaced with this, my money is on X-men (3rd series). Logo looks like that logo with the word X-treme added or a new title instead of Gen. Hope. (Cyclops side needs a extra title to bring balance again)
Another theory: what I do notice is that the word X-treme is pink, was'nt the logo for the eXiled crossover of New Mutants and Journey into Mystery also pink? If so, maybe the crossover expands to a (new) X-men title?
But we will know coming weekend. I'm eXited!

Or perhaps, Flapflop, New Mutants will be retitled to X-Treme X-Men? After all, they aren't exactly "New" anymore, are they? But then again, we've had the "New" Avengers since 2005, lol

As much as I would love to see a Dazzler led book with her X-Kids Street Team I just cant see the big wigs allowing it from a commercial point of view.
I think most likely is a new Cyclops led team, one with very questionable methods and made up of some former/current villans. Its becoming clear that Cyclops is certainly heading toward becoming, well, Magneto and a book about his team might be a interesting and unique view on all things X-Men. So essentially, a Thunderbolts for the Xmen.

A Magneto-led team would be interesting as hell! I genuinely believe that I'm onto something with a Thunderbolts-style title. Probably with people like Hope, Shaw, Magneto, maybe Zero and a few other morally questionable characters. Either that, or they're renaming 'X-Men' as a marketing ploy, as it's very similar in tone to X-Treme anyway...

As I said before....X-treme X-Men was about a team of X-men who left the comfort of the mansion and struck out on their own. I see this new title spinning out of the AvX event as the same kind of thing.....a bunch of characters who for one reason or another cannot stay with the X-men and they have to go and have adventures elsewhere.

I think so too.
A new team:
- X-men on the run/outlawed
- eXiled X-men
- X-men gone bad killing people/mutants to save mutantkind
- Or:
In 2012, a crack commando of X-men was sent to prison by the Avengers for a crime they didn't commit. They escaped a maximum security prison at the Avengers building to the underground. Today still wanted by the government they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem And no one else can help Maybe you can hire X-treme X-men

It does make sense for it to be a third faction of the X-men, what with the color fo the logo being purple/pinkish, given that all the others are either blue or gold (yellow).

A X-force kinda team lead by Psylocke maybe? Psylocke psy powers (knife and butterfly) are always colored pink

Lol, i bet it will be written by Claremont and feature Dazzler, Lifeguard, Boom Boom, Adam X, Thunderbird (Neal Shaara), Maggott, Elixir, Ink, Blink, and Random. Their mission will be to extract currency from the wallets of X-Fans. </cynicism>

I like the idea of a thunderbolts style title. Especially given how many "former villains" are "Xmen" now. Especially considering how many of them have made little if any pretense about reforming.

I would love to see a Psyloke led team, but I hope that doesnt signal her leaving X-Force, as she is the best she ever has been in that book. Also wouldnt a Thunderbolts style X-team be a bit close to x-force in tone? Unless they have a very specific madate?
The pink in the logo cant be random, and it certainly seems to be new to the xmen colour pallette. You do sort of feel that they have been building Betsy up for a while now, maybe she is getting her own team?

For those who keep saying it's a Cyclops lead team with mostly former villains, we already have that. It's called the Extinction Team and it primarily appears in the pages of Uncanny X-Men.
Maybe this will be the mutants that side with the Avengers, or it might be the team assigned to protect Hope.
I'm not so sure it's an ongoing. Maybe it's pink like Exiled because neither book is going to last pas the event. Although I like "exiled" as a title so maybe they'll use it again.

I thought Marvel already said that only the VS mini-series with the fights would be the extra tie in to AvsX, so I think X-treme won't be a mini but a new or renamed ongoing one.

Maybe they did. Maybe they didn't. Either way, Marvel has been known to change their minds. Have you seen the end of Fear Itself? How many .issues were there?
It could be an ongoing. It could be a mini. Whatever it is definitely ties into AvX.
It could be a team formed for a very specific purpose in AvX that will end up carrying forward like X-Force in Messiah Complex.
It could be a team that takes a hard stance either with or against the Avengers.
It could be a team that's sent to the future to see how things worked out with Hope.
It could be Hope's royal guard.
It could be a team of X-Men sent to hunt down Wolverine when he sides with the Avengers.
Who knows? Anyhow, I'll reserve cynicism for now and say I'm looking forward to the possibility of a new ongoing. I'm not bothered by the amount of X-Titles. I just don't bother to read what I don't like.

Testify. In all fairness, I try not to complain about Generation Hope because I don't read it, but then they make Hope appear in other titles. I've always said that if you don't like something, don't read it. It's why I've dropped New Mutants, Uncanny and Gen Hope. Give it an arc and if you don't like it, drop it. Simples.

Some interesting theories being thrown about...
My only hope is that it's something entirely different in cast and purpose than the other X-Books on the market now and that it does not involve Hope or the Generation Hope cast (yawn!)
Part of X-Treme X-Men's premise was a government/UN sponsored mutant team. We haven't seen that in a while and there's plenty of precedents dating back to Freedom Force.
Perhaps halfway through AvX, mutants start getting their powers back and this is the response team assembled to deal with that? I've long wanted to see Xavier and Voght as the head of Muir Island doing search & rescue work with new mutants. That'd be a great role for him in the new scheme of things... and there're plenty of characters who might join in such an effort.

After this week's Legacy, even if Hope is gone, I wouldn't mind seeing a team of the Utopian kids with the Lights being more extreme with their stance. Perhaps something happens to them at the Avengers Academy and Hope that pushes them in an even more "extreme" perspective. Similar to how New Mutants became X-Force the first time around.
Then again the color reminds me of Uncanny X-Force. Perhaps its a mini addressing something to do with that book?

Given that there is only one Light I like, and one I find semi-tolerable, I hate we see the last of them after AvX...save for Kenji

Well since I doubt Idie is leaving WatX anytime soon, you'll see one there. I personally hope to see Primal, Laurie, and Kenji again after the events of Avengers Academy and believe that putting them in a more "extreme" group that sits on same line as the original X-Treme and X-Force would be fitting, due to Hope's connection to Cable.

Don't know what to think, at the moment I am a bit annoyed, to many x-books.
But also who says it is going to be a regular series? This might be a 12 part mini about the fall out to AVX like the fear itself postlude series. If that is the case i would be on board, but not as a regular series please...
And maybe like it was said above, this could be a name change from something like New Mutants or the continuation of Gen hope?

Well, something big is falling out of AvX, and I hazard a guess that its the return of mutants as a growing population. A government sponsored mutant team might make sense in response to that.
But I am holding out for a Psyloke led team of ass kickers!

you mean like Uncanny X-Force or X-Men? LOL...
The problem with that is that, that kinda seems like something saved for the resolution of the story not the mid-point. But who knows...

AvsX wil be played in two acts. Probably the main war between A and X is settled at the end of Act 1 and the status quo changes, calling for new teams/renamed teams etc. Maybe the new Phoenix host as a common enemy?
