I didn't say that the book didn't feature obscure characters (Mimic and Thunderbird were definitely obscure). I never even made an argument that Wolverine and Emma were obscure.
All I said was that the original Exiles were variations of fan-favorites or amalgamation of them (Magnus reminded me of Franklin). I never said your point was wrong OR that it wasn't a legit gripe to have. And yeah Nocturne is definitely a variation on the Nightcrawler. That doesn't mean she didn't develop into her own unique character (just like any alt-world character has the potential to do...yes even one of Wolverine). But like you said you are going to avoid it.
edit...
I apologize how rude I came off at first.

The age old question, that has no answer as comic fans never fully know what they want. And if Marvel did give them what they want they'd find some reason that was wrong still I'm sure.

Seriously? Sense of wonder is something that's easier to hold as a child and can't easily be replicated in adulthood. I could go into the various scientific reasons for this, suffice to say that it's hardwired into our brains to be easier to be impressed with the idea of something the younger you are. Now stop moping and dance! *dances*

Well, at least Dazz will be doing SOMETHING and getting her fab short do back. I hate her with long hair and that hideous costume she has now.

It actually makes perfect since for Dazzler. She already has a history of interacting and traveling to other universes. She's been a Herald of Galactus, the Leader Queen of a rebellion in Mojo World, the X-Babies, Excalibur.
She's perfect as the lead in a dimension-hopping story. I don't see the shoehorning at all.

It's spinning out of AVX because Dazzler becomes the new host for the Phoenix Force. Duh.

Even the stuff people love now like WATXM and Uncanny X-Force were torn to shreds when they put out promos.
Just saddening sometimes that people are so aware of the often nature of canceled books and assumes they'll end and feels that Marvel owes them something and nothing is ever the right thing their owed. Again not saying anyone is wrong or shouldn't feel this way or such as I respect all opinions. Just sad sometimes. |
Try to cheer up and think of it this way. Half the fans love some of the titles and don't comment a lot , but the books and news they hate they comment on. Then the other half of the fans have the same reaction but for the opposite slate of books and news. But when reading message boards u see all of it so it seems like no one likes anything. It's not that comic fans can never be happy, it's that no two people will ever like or hate everything at the same time.
The cynicism thing is slightly different Though. Publishers repeat their practices a lot, and it becomes More noticeable the longer u follow comics. When u see the signs of them repeating a practice u didn't like the last go around, it's easy to be put off. Good stories is the only thing that will negate that effect. But until the books come out, all we have is speculation based on either good memories, or bad memories.

Lol, Dazzler book, guess I called it. And yeah, I think reality hopping is perfect for her. But I'm going to put this in my "Not Reading" pile along with AoA and Ultimate (Comics) Xmen. Hilarious that no one in this thread even mentioned the existence of the Ultimate book during this discussion. I guess I'm not missing much.
Mind you, I'd read XTreme Xmen (XX) if I didn't already have too many titles to afford it.

For all the (correct) criticisms mentioned of the unveiled concept, surely the biggest is that Adam X won't be featuring. The man is X-TREME for Pete's sake.

If you're throwing characters into an alt-world then you might as well throw Adam X in there too, I agree, SK.
Huge Exiles fan, huge Dazzler fan... so I may check this out. But I agree with the majority here, not sure this will be worth it.

As much as I am glad to see Dazzler getting a focus this just doesnt excite. Its not a new idea, or even a new spin on an existing one. But il give it the benefit of the doubt just for some Dazzler love.
Having Alison lead the Street Team in San Francisco with Guardian, that could have been great. I would have love to have seen them dealing with domestic street crime stuff. Maybe dealing with a media profile and celebrity? Dazzler, with her history as a popstar could have been perfect as the focus of this. While X-Force commented on the media a while back I think the time is right for something that deals with how the outside world views the xmen.

Where does it say she'll be getting a hair cut and a new costume? Because I will be fully behind this book if that happens.

I wish she would get her hair cut too. I like it short and it helps distinguish her in Greg Land images.

There's a picture in one of those previews. The new costume is ugly, but she's got her short hair back. They should put her in her Age of X costume.

Are yu sure that's not the Ms Marvel image you are looking at? I haven't seen any art for the X-treme X-Men series.

If they put her in her AoX aesthetic that would greatly increase their chances of me picking this up.

I never noticed that Dazzler adopted the Captain Marvel starburst logo after Carol switched to a lightning bolt until now.

I also associate the starburst with Dazzler and Longshot... Shatterstar too... That was my first thought even though it's def a Captain Marvel thing... Funny
Putting Dazzler in her AoX costume would change EVERYTHING

Yeah, I'm not that interested about this book once they revealed the concept. But I might change my mind if Dazzler adopted the AoX look.
