I remember reading somewhere that when John Byrne returned to the X-Men as writer in 1991/92, he planned to decimate the number of mutants severely with a new "Mutant Massacre."
But now I can't remember where I read this. I've searched through the John Byrne interviews in my possession, and I can't find this.
