UXN Contest - Unusual Suspects II

I know I have one more right... and then it's all up in the air.

I, also, thought Wallflower was wonderful. How she got killed yet they kept Match around I'll never know...

Why is Friday taking its sweet ass time getting here? 

Wow. Brutal. Of the 4 left, I have a definite guess; one that I guessed wrong, but figured out once the clues came out; and the other two are the hardest of the 8 (IMO) to identify.

I still agree with Providence...is it Friday yet?

Welcome back everyone. It’s the third week and as such silhouettes #5 and #6 that are being revealed.

 

Her true name forever lost,
She was found by one Emma Frost
Who called her Sharon Smith
Gave her teammates to hang out with
Being a Hellion her life it cost

 

Catseye was correctly identified by all but three participants. One false guess was Amanda Sefton, who has too much history for a profile entry and hence was given a Spotlight under her alias Magik II a long time ago. Another wrong guess was Copycat, who is lacking a tail despite the feline moniker. On the other hand, who’s to say that it isn’t Copycat in the image, her having shapeshifted into Catseye? The answer doesn’t count, though. Likewise, the guess Thorrn doesn’t score any points either, despite it being a correct answer…… if this was the Unusual Suspects contest from two years ago.




Only nine posters managed to identify X-Force’s Zeitgeist. The most popular false guess was Rusty Collins, who was mentioned seven times. Every other wrong answer was submitted only one person each. Some of these would actually make interesting future profile entries….. Corsair, Elixir, Hellion, Pulse, Shortpack and Vulcan.

There was something about that silhouette that just screamed Mike Allred to me. That's the only way I figured out who it was.

I love that most of you guys are European, it means that you post things early for me. Yeah, ALMOST FRIDAY and NEW PROFILES.

Catseye was my other one I definitely knew, and Zeitgiest I learned after the clues came out. I guessed Rusty because the pants going into the boots was something I remembered from his costume. However when Google Imaging him later, I didn't find an image that came close to that, and never having read the X-Force/X-Statix books, I'm always at a lack when those characters are used.

So how much do I have to paypal the winner for them to pick a character I want to see get a spotlight? LOL

I knew Catseye! YAY! 

I had narrowed it down to two for Catseye (her and Thornn), but went with the wrong one. It didn't even register with me to check for previous profiles. And believe me, it gets worse with me, I picked someone for 8 who has a full spotlight and I'm probably the only person who remembers the person I picked for 5 even exists...

Well in my case, I kept thinking that I saw that pose before but couldn't put my finger on it. I never followed that incarnation of X-Force (although I know of them) but my mind was going for "it's one of the New Mutants/X-Force characters" (my subconscious brain perhaps LOL). I just didn't think of that incarnation of X-Force at first (after I saw the hint I realized my mistake and easily identified Zeitgeist).

The reason why I chose Rusty was that I'm pretty sure there is a somewhat similar pose of him but at the time I couldn't find an exact match. Maybe the pose that you can see of him here was what was in the back of my mind (I only found it later). It's kind of similar except for the arms but then again we couldn't see them properly amongst the other shadows anyway.
What sort of convinced me to risk it was that I noticed that Rusty was the only New Mutant who didn't have a Spotlight/profile so I figured he was due and would be a good guess.

Anyway, I didn't expect to get them all. I immediately recognized Wallflower, Kylun and Sunder (and was 100% sure it was them). Once I noticed that tail, I knew it was Catseye and my only guess for 6 was Gosamyr and a quick search for her name returned the corresponding image. Numbers 5, 7 and 8 were the ones I tried to make an educated guess.

The X logo clue gave away Zeitgeist for me, Catseye I just knew right away. Unfortunately I missed Gosamyr and I know I missed #8, so I'm already out..and thanks for making me wait another week to find out who #8 is! lol

Ugh... I'm out. I guessed Catseye correctly thanks to the tail and a quick google search confirmed with the corresponding image for the silhouette. I'm also one of the ones who guessed Rusty Collins for #7 as he's been a popular choice in the past so I assumed one of the site's writers probably decided to write a profile on him. That's the only thing I had going.

I even searched for X-Statix members, including Zeitgeist but didn't find the one matching the silhouette... until now. *facepalm* Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Maybe I'll come back for UXN's Next Top Spotlight Poster All-Stars. :P
