As hokey as such a crossover seems in some ways, I suspect that if there's a scene in which Ultimate Aunt May gets to meet all-growns-up 616 Peter, said scene will probably make me cry.

Man, I said the same thing...Bendis is at his best when he's doing Ultimate Spider-Man. And so something like that has loads of story potential.
Not to mention, Peter wrestling with the idea that in some world he was an even younger superhero and died...and that his legacy inspired someone else. Let alone how effed up the Ultimate world is because of mutants...
Then you have Miles who's going to see his childhood hero all grown up and a member of the Avengers and Fantastic Four.

Ergh, I hate it...The Ultimate Universe was really supposed to be off it's own world...The Ultimate Universe has become irrelevant enough but with each big "event" it becomes more so.
And to be fair Miles will just be like
"Wait the Fantastic Four...isn't one of them a villain now?"
and
"Who are Avengers? Do you mean those giant d-bags the Ultimates?"

I don't know about the other Ultimate titles (I've read some threads and it seems that Ultimates isn't that bad either), but Ultimate Spider-Man is a fantastic book imo and far form irrelevant. As Majestic points out, this particular story is ripe with some very strong emotional story beats, so I'm not going to count it out just yet.
edit:
Would Miles know that Reed is a bad guy?
And why would he consider the Ultimates D-bags? His only run in with them ended with him beating Electro.

Irrelevant to what, exactly?

It's original point, and telling worthwhile stories(Ultimates, X-Men and any mini have largely fallen flat to me and Ultimate Spider-Man is just finding it's feet).
And BC, doesn't most of the world know that the Ultimates were at least partially responsible for Peter's death...I can't remember. It was long ago and not incredibly memorable story

*shrugs* Haters gonna hate. At this post-Millar, post-Loeb point, the only disappointing thing to me about the Ultimate U is X-Men, and its writer just shipped his last issue of it.

I'm not sure the world blames them for his death. Petey was heart and he died fighting the bad guys. Not sure if that makes them being viewed as bad to the world. Perhaps some people, I'm not sure. I'm not reading Ultimates right now (although I feel like I should) so I'm not up on things.

Well, Millar's absent, so it's not about the Ultimates being assholes. Actually, it's kind of like Gillen's X-Men in that it's mostly about the antagonists/external forces with the heroes as foils. The difference is that Hickman's choices of focus are institutions rather than individuals; he's flexing the sci-fi world-building muscle he showed in S.H.I.E.L.D.
That said, the U.S. Government did just start shutting down the Ultimates in the lastest issue, presumably for being terrible at their jobs under Millar.

This seems like it will be pretty cool. I used to like the idea of ultimate being completely separated from 616, but I don't care about that trivial stuff anymore. Ultimate spiderman is good, amazing is good, why not let them crossover. Heck, if in a few years there is full on crisis on infinite marvels involving the ultimates, zombies, age of apocalypse, 616, and supreme powers universes I'd be down for that too.

FYI, Ultimate Hawkeye has a different name, but it's really just four more issues of Ultimates that take place during the first arc. It, too, is Hickman-penned.

Somebody has to use this as the chance to explain to Miles that the clause "until death do us part" only refers specifically to the two parties who sign the marriage contract.

Eh, I stopped reading the Ultimate line a LONG time ago but I still like the idea of keeping it completely separate from the MU

If there was anytime that such a crossover could happen, as I prefer them staying separate as well, I think it would be now for the 50th anniversary of Spider-Man.
