Keep in mind the only person to "classify" killcrops is Damien Tryp. I don't have the issue in front of me, but I do believe he stated that killcrops were the predecessor to mutants, who developed powers at birth. Further suggesting that killcrops have been around hundreds of years before mutants became prevalent.

How you define "mutants" , then, Charles?

Someone whose X-gene develops around puberty? I'm not trying to champion this point. This whole debate is based off of one discussion between Jamie and Tryp. I thought it was clearly stated by Tryp that killcrops preceded mutants and as such were considered a different group entirely by his standard. It's a minor point for the purposes of this thread but thought I'd hear others thoughts on it.

Someone whose X-gene develops around puberty?
i do not agree with that definition. Because that lmakes overall classification too thin.
I stand an will stand on grounds, that every natural X-Gene carrier is mutant. Therefore, mutant whose powers kicked in after puberty is.. just that. No special definition for him.
I am debating terminology because it's important that we'd talk about same things and use the same words when talking about same things.

Daiman Tryp expressly stated to Madrox's parents that was not a mutant because he was a killcrop. Tryp is the only source of information we have on killcrops, and according to him they are a class separate and independent from mutants. As Tryp presented it, neither one is a subclassification of the other.

For the purposes of this list, though, I think Madrox and Tryp should be listed among active mutants post M-Day, because that's essentially what they are, especially for story purposes. Cerebro reacts to Madrox, as it does to other presumable killcrops like Apocalypse.

and of course we can't take tryp's word for it because there's not much evidence that he has any idea what he's talking about.

Well, Tryp's word is the only evidence we have on killcrops. If we accept killcrops exist at all, making Tryp a viable soure, we should also accept the rest of what he said about them. In for a penny, in for a pound...unless someone can think of a reason why he would disclose the existence of killcrops but lie about the details.

My thought is that he knows some things about them, but his knowledge is limited.

I'd agree with that.  Just because Tryp let somebody know about the existence of killcrops doesn't mean that Tryp wouldn't have manipulated what information he chose to share or manufacture in order to affect what that person does with the knowledge.

Are you REALLY trying to deny that Apocalypse is a mutant, Survivor, or are you just being difficult? No, I can't think of an occasion with Cerebro off the top of my head, but recall that his Ship was specially programmed to not allow anyone but mutants inside -- anyone else was repelled from its interior.

Fair enough, but since Cereobro does react to Jamie, would it be a fair assessment to say that killcrops also contain the X-gene?

I am being nitpicky
I can't think of an occasion with Cerebro off the top of my head
I couldn't as well
his Ship was specially programmed to not allow anyone but mutants inside -- anyone else was repelled from its interior
Good point.

This is a bit speculative, but Tryp, for whatever reason, seems to see Jamie as a threat; he is also sneaky and devious. I would be VERY dubious about taking ANYTHING he says as canon.

Couldn't it just be Tryp being an elitist/classist?  The circumstances of manifestation alone seem to be what he uses to differentiate Killcrops and other mutants, it's kind of like being an Eternal, or a Neyaphem or Cheyarafim, they are all mutants just mutants that share common bonds that some who share this bond use to set them apart from others of their kind, like humans of the same racial group seperating themselves by skin complexion.  If Killcrops are not mutants and mutants are only those who manifest during puberty, then what is Magneto? didn't a childhood illness keep him from manifesting until he was an adult?  So is he not a mutant?  Or Jean, her powers manifested before puberty (granted girls can experience puberty as young as 10 years old, but Jean showed no outward signs of puberty, like breast development until she had manifested tk)  And what would Xavier fall under since he manifested mutant powers in the womb?  Next Emma will be saying that the psi talents are a different kind of mutant, it's just a class IMO, they are all mutants just ask a Sentinel.

Ok, I'm confused by this list. Why are Professor X and Magneto on the regular list but Polaris and others on the repowered list?

I wouldn't add Lobe and his team yet, elixir. Just because they appeared in a "mutant" book doesn't mean they're mutants. Lobe, in particular, seemed to have visible cybernetic enhancements.

Moses Magnum is not a mutant. He was a normal human, well into his 40's, who was then artificially granted special powers. Dark Wolverine was in error when it called him a mutant.

Francis Klum is also not a mutant. This was previously discussed on this thread on page 3.
Charisma: the fine line between winning them over with charm and ruling them by fear.

I can only guess it's because Xavier and Magneto had their original powers re-activated where Polaris was granted artificial powers similar to her original set.

In this interview, Axel Alonso states that the Marvel Knights minis are intended to be out of continuity. In the same interview, he is plugging the at-the-time, upcoming Logan story. I see no conflict in considering Logan as canon, I'm just curious where it states it.

That's what I thought. But then it lists people like Abyss, who had his X-gene powers restored by the Terrigen mists.

I've added Professor X to the main list cause his repowerment happens through the M'Kraan Crystal and if I remember correctly, it was hinted that among the infinite possibilities, Charles regained his X-gene.
