Yeah that comment by Dan got me worried. But I have a gut feeling he might be trying to be funny and psyching us out. Either way we are reaching out to someone higher up to find out what the deal is. Chances are however we won't hear word now till next week. This is the first time I have really heard any serious news that the Marvel one is in danger. The lack of word from EM about the DC collection leads me to believe it's dead but I really believe the Marvel one has at least one more extension left. We could easily reach 300 however as Marvel has so many more fleshed out characters to be made.
If word comes back that the Marvel collection is for the chopping block you can guarentee I will have a letter in the post. I wouldn't care if the increased the price or made the figures totally out of resin. The fact the price has stayed so low when costs of the materials and postage has skyrocketted is amazing. And resin looks just as good as lead and that's all that matters for me.

At this point I fear it's a matter of pure economics rather than character quality. DC still has plenty of B-listers to be made while Marrvel is mostly into (beloved) C-listers by this point. If Dan is just kidding about the CMFC being in jeopardy, it'd be a huge dick move considering all agita the DC forums are going through trying to keep that collection afloat.

Yeah I was able to bend Quicksilver back into place, but all the paint around the ankles is gone. The Vision is in worse shape though, his upper body sits back into his lower body, but there is a lot of paint that came off in the fall. Oh well.

Unfortunately no to both Which is even more of a shame if the collection gets cancelled... no one to do some custom paints for characters I want like Amanda, Darkstar and Vindicator etc.

What a joke.
I hope some other company will pick up on how popular the CMFC is and continue with it. Screw Eaglemoss for our loyalty and all the money we have spent. It seems that almost everyone was happy with a price rise, but EM wouldn't even give it a chance.
What is more of a shame is this last extension is in my view a pretty crappy one, there aren't many characters I am interested in at all.
This is a sad day indeed.

Well. That's that, I guess. Dammit. If they rerelease a resin collection, I'm really not gonna buy much of them other than ones I'm missing or ones I think look way better. Storm, Rogue, Mystique, and Emma Frost have room to improve, at least, so if I can hope, it's that we'll see a reboot with some really good sculpts I'd be interested in.

I am really peeved off. I ahve no doubt that it's the marketing guys not doing their job. This colelction could ahve gone on so much further if that had done a little TV campaigning or just advertised in comics....especially given that Marvel is a big thing to the general public now.
I was convinced we would get another extension and I think the editorial staff were too.
I am going to have to customise some figures to get some of my wants in. Donna Troy on the DC side will make a good Darkstar or M. Medusa will make a good Meggan.
Gutted.
I might pick up the X-Men chess collection when it comes out because it is supposed to have a few like Vertigo and the Brood in it.

The DC collection is also officially dead. That said, there's nothing preventing us from posting a mass petition to overturn this lousy business decision. The forum will have a sample letter up sometime today.

Yeah, I am sending off a letter. I think there is more leeway than the DC.....we pretty much knew that one was dead after the 100-120 extension. The CMFC smells of marketing decisions to clear the board so that newer collections can go ahead. I just want one more extension so that I can get a core group of New Mutants, Starlord for my GOTG display, Meggan for Excalibur, Darkstar and Mantis in.

I feel really bad for the DC collection. I'm not happy for the Marvel one to end now either, but it still feels like a solid overall representation of the universe. DC, on the other hand, still doesn't have that same depth or breadth. Even the the last extension we got by petition didn't feel like it suffiently plugged the gaps. EM won't even make a Fire & Ice 2 pack as a consolation prize.

In slightly happier news, I got Arachne this week, and she is another excellent figure. It's sad that EM have been putting out some really good sculpts lately. And I just get even sadder that there is no USAgent to stand Arachne next to. USAgent is the biggest ommission from the collection for me. Followed by Vindicator and Darkstar. They are my top three. I never expected to see Daytripper, Valerie Cooper or Skids in the collection. But others like Firebird, Meggan, Monet, Sersi...they should have made it, too. Anyway, I'm still holding out hope that another company will pick the collection up.

We have the forum assembling. Even though they said there would be no chance we are still sending off letters to the guys above the marketing dept. EMP posted the address of the guy to annoy above. We are begging every fan to send in a letter detailing why the collection should be kept going. Please keep it respectful and don't abuse anyone as that would end up being counter-productive. And add in that you would take a price increase or switch to all resin if need be - if you wanted this though....if not then skip it out.
Basically we are doing anything to squeeze that final extension out.

I'm writing my letter today, and have a meeting near the office tomorrow, so will hand it in myself.
Only just started collecting a few months back, so rather pissed off about this...

Yeah, I bought some DC figs I found easily convertible to some Marvel characters I really want. Constantine for Pete Wisdom, Poison Ivy for Meggan, and Star Sapphire for Selene. I'm so sad.

That's what I will be doing. I think the recent Arachne will make a good Magma and Captain Marvel (Genis) will make a good Sunspot.

Got my letter in the post today. I hand wrote it for the personal touch. I kept it very polite and simply detailed why I like the collection and the fact I would be happy to take a price increase or all-resin to keep the characters coming. I didn't list any characters I want because I don't think the bigwigs have a clue about comics. It's a small glimmer of hope but I am also preparing foe a big NO. As I said I have eyeballed a few characters and decided who to turn them into. I am able to do simple repaints but I don't think my sculpting ability is very good. I would love a Danger figure but I doubt I am that good.

I suggested characters for a new extension for two reasons: 1. Most of the big omissions have popped up in cartoons, movies, & video games. It's important to point this out to the big wigs so that they don't think we're just desperate for a bunch of obscure comic book characters. If the character has a presence across different media they're more likely to bring in sales. 2. If they do give us a farewell extension, it'd be nice to get characters we're actually looking forward to.

Deathbird painted is up on the blog. All in all a really good figure. I think the purple needs a bit more darker toning to it but I am really looking forward to getting her on my shelf.

Not much action here lately... I guess we are all still upset about the cancellation, huh? I still hold out hope that another company will pick up the collection, or start a New Marvel Figurine Collection. Anyway, I had a few back issues arrive today - Nova, Falcon, Baron Zemo and Blob. Nova and Falcon are both great scultps, but Nova looks lonely without any teammates at his side :-( Baron Zemo is a decent enough figure. The Blob is appropriately hideous!

Yeah, not much else to say. I've been hunting through the DC Collection for possible repaints to fill in the gaps in my favorite teams. Some folks like Chamber, Warlock, and Strong Guy are kinda screwed, but I've got leads on Warpath (Doc Samson), Shatterstar (Mister Terrific), Meggan (Poison Ivy), Pete Wisdom (John Constantine), Selene (Carol Ferris), Magma (Mera), and Monet (Donna Troy) so far.
