It is funny that black characters literally do get stuck in that mode...mainly because no one wants to make them too hip...because then they think they'll be called "racist". Except for non-comic related shows or Static Shock...

Poor Spyke. At least he wasn't boring. :P

I think I see little hints of personality now and then. Maybe its just that they are using the voice actor from Teen Titans who played Cyborg and I keep expecting to yell Boo-Ya!!

But his water weapons are one of the coolest things an "aqua" themed hero has ever come up with, no doubt.

Spike was ok.  I thought his powerset was pretty lame (ditto for Marrow who I guess was his inspiration) but he didn't come off as offensive or bland from what I remember.

I recommend checking out X-men Evolution. First season was kinda trash, but the last two seasons were pretty awesome.  It had the best version of Apocolypse on television or in comics IMO.  I also loved the interpretations of Avalanche, Rogue, Scarlet Witch, Boom Boom and the Fuzzy Elf.

I happen to really like the stoic strong cartoon character. Aqualad is going to be Young Justice's Goliath. Weismann knows what he's doing. His weapons are kind of awesome and a big part of his appeal.

I liked that Chesire had her neko mask from Teen Titans. She sounded like Michele Forbes.
Why is Kid Flash the only one who needs to go to high school. We saw Robin had a school last episode, so wouldn't they be on a similar semester cycle?
Mount Justice looks like it's in Hawaii not  Rhode Island. .  As someone who spent his childhood summers in New England, the beaches are still too cold and rocky for teens to frolic so carefreely in.
Does anyone think that switching back & forth between the stealth suits and the regular suits is pointless? Just pick one. So far none of the villains have been confounded by the stealth suits so they might as well just go with their vibrant regular suits.
This episode makes it clear that Artemis is not the traitor like we suspected. Batman, Green Arrow, and Speedy all know she's not GA's neice. If she was a spy, her cover would be completely blown. The JLA is hiding her identity as the scion of supervillains to give her a fresh start, which will bite her later.
So who's the real infiltrator? There are three likely guesses. The most obvious is Superboy. He was specically grown to take out Superman. The Light  probably have a telepathic override in him. His teammates  could urge him to overcome his programming in a cliched season finale, but Superboy's better nature so far consists of him being a dick.  Miss Martian is a white Martian in the comics. If the Light is down with the white Martians, who are evil, she could be their spy. It's still a stretch that Martian Manhunter wouldn't pick up on this. This probably plays into a separate arc ala Starcrossed. The last option is Aqualad. Isn't he Black Manta's son in the comics? Viewers know so little about him that it wouldn't be out of character to retcon him being the traitor. He's the least emotionally dysfunctional of the team, which is an excellent cover for an infiltraitor.

I don't like the way Artemis was suddenly added to the team. Its like the writers planned to build the mystery for a bit, starting with the mystery arrow shot at the robot from last episode, but instead changed their minds and decided to just add her straight away.

Superboy was the first person I thought of too when the Light spoke about an infiltrator.  If it is him I don't think he's a deliberate spy.  I mimagine there'll be all sorts of genetic failsafes built into him or something.

Are the Light established villains from the comics? Who are they?

The Light is probably made of established villains, but we're not sure who yet.
Cheshire was voiced by Kelly Hu not Michelle Forbes.
Apparently that really lame assassin with the hook hand was the guy who killed Deadman.

Adding Artemis was pretty abrupt and I'm finding I don't care that much for her. I know from an interview, that Artemis was planned to join the team in episode six, but the arrow scene made me believe we'd get something a little more intense than GA and Batman naming her a team member. I'm at least curious about her real story.

I liked the villains this week, especially Cheshire but this cartoon doesn't do a great job letting the audience know who these people are if they aren't familiar with DC comics.

I'd prefer if the informant on the inside isn't a real traitor, but just someone being used to unknowingly feed information. Superboy or Miss Martian seem the likely choices.

Yeah that's one thing I don't like medium...they do have a tendency to not really give you a proper introduction to the villains. I guess it's because in this world, everyone has been around for some time so we're supposed to feel like "these people have been doing this for awhile, we just hopping in mid-way"

Informant, would seem logical for supes.  He probably has a gizmo built in that transmits sensory data directly back to the Light.

I just hated that Green Arrow lied about Artemis being his neice. What's the point? Why couldn't he just say "new sidekick." It kills any suspense in her being the traitor because the League is going out its way to cover for her, even beyond what's needed.
There's pictures of the Young Justice toys at Toy Fair. The coolest one is Aqualad because he comes with lots of water weapons. There's two villain reveals there, if you're dodging spoilers. The lack of a 6" Miss Martian vexes me.

I'm sure they'll do more figures. :)

I was pondering and thought of something.... What if the "Light" organization is actually being run by White Martians?

I actually think that Artemis is a plant, but she's a reluctant one - I think that Bats and GA are using her to draw out the Light.

I just can't see any reason for them to blatanly point out that she's not GA's niece and then do the confrontation with Red Arrow at the end. Why would Batman and Green Arrow let someone suspicous in around their charges? I figure it's all a ploy! The Light are either holding something over Artemis' head or they control her somehow, but she isn't down for that, so she came to the Justice League.

Those're MY thoughts.

I liked that Kid Flash was the one skeptical about magic. It makes sense given that his powers are science based and Abrakadabra is one of his foes. He actually got to show off how smart he was rather than be the goofball screw-up of the team.
It's weird hearing Ed Asner do a voice for a DC cartoon that wasn't Granny Goodness.
This episode shows they need a magic user on the team like Zatanna.
I didn't get why Nabu let Wally go since Nelson didn't offer him a different host in return. I think the helmet would've been safer if they left it in Fate's tower instead of sticking it on an unprotected room in Mount Justice.
I don't like the foreshadowing of Artemis and Wally hooking up because they don't cut each other any slack.  Can't two people just hate each other in a non-romantic way?
Does Superboy have heat and X-ray vision?
Teekal was adorable.

He was also in a BTAS episode that was disappointing despite its inclusion of Etrigan.

Good episode. I love when cartoons follow a specific storyline. Here we see right away that Superboy is making progress training with Black Canary. I liked the interpretation of Dr. Fate's tower, as it was a little different then we've seen in the Superman Animated Series and JL. It was nice Kid Flash got a little more depth too.

Loved that we are getting some old Gargoyles voice talent.

I am not an expert on DC or Dr. Fate.  But in this episode, it was mentioned that Dr. Fate was earth' Sorcerer Supreme.

In the past I had never heard of Fate being called SS or reading that in any DC comic.  Is this something new or has he always been the SS?

Also, isn't SS a title created by Marvel?  Before this episode, I never read a DC comic where the mystic used that title.  Is this something new?
"The Fire of the Phoenix burns through lies..."
"Feel the power of Phoenix!"
"Forever shall the Phoenix rage.....!"

I don't think "Sorcerer Supreme" is a trademarked or copywritten title for either company.

I'm not familiar with Doc Fate myself, so I don't know if he's been labelled that before, but he is pretty much DC's biggest mage, short of maybe Zatanna.

I do agree that this team needs a mage though. Personally I'd like to see a de-aged Zatanna, just to put another female on the team, but I can see loyalists not wanting their characters messed with. Woulda helped, that's all I'm saying.
