Unlike Rick, Michonne won't keep you safe. But if you can be like her, you can keep yourself safe just fine.

I want to say that both Breaking Bad and Mad Men really raked AMC over the coals about the budget. They wanted bumps in production and salaries across the board. I can only assume that by caving to their demands The Walking Dead suffered. I kind of find that ironic as The Walking Dead has ratings higher than both shows combined.

AMC was trying to dick over its Emmy award winning shows too. Breaking Bad almost wnet to another network for its final season. It's the reason why it's taken over a year for Mad Men to return. AMC is stingy with all its shows.

Yeah, Mad Men, the show which put them on the map as a network, had a salary dispute.
Walking Dead is probably, as is, more expensive then Breaking Bad. But I don't see it having as much as a salary problem next year. Problem is, Mad Men has more prestige all around. Plus it actually has a "cast". John Hamm, Elizabeth Moss, Cardboard Jones.....Walking Dead does not. I could care less if any character on The Walking Dead dies...I only know some of them by name from previous works(Lori from Prison break, Andrea has been in movies, and Shane and Rick are in the credits).
Every time a contract is resigned, the cast and producers get a pay pump. I'm guessing that's where the struggle really was. Why should AMC fork money over to keep a bunch of one dimensional characters around? If the writers don't care to develop them, why should AMC want to keep them when they could put they're money to the Emmy Powerhouse/star-maker that is Mad Men.
But with these ratings they could ask for higher ad prices next year...so I doubt budget will be a problem next year, even with the salary bump for the main characters and producers/writers. But yeah I doubt AMC will ever pay any of these actors John Hamm money, not even the dude who plays Rick, because honestly if Rick died, I'd just be like "oh okay...well, that's nice..."

Well as was said the budget was cut because of the dispute with Mad Men. AMC needed more money from places to soothe over the issues happening there and as the Freshman show at the time Walking Dead was one of the cuts. Thus the whole thing that led to Darabount's removal and such.
Well looking at it from your persepctive of their acting ability, probably isn't how AMC looks at it lol. If a show is doing as well as Walking Dead is ratings wise for the most part the company is going to believe that as an ensemble of cast and writers and show runners it's a working formula. Cause really I doubt the majority of people really look that deep into the acting and such. I think that Transfomers were terrible movies with no acting and no plot, but they raked in billions as the public loved them.
So I doubt AMC will even once think "No more money, your characters are one dimensional." They see high ratings, they see cash lol

There is ANOTHER show on Sunday...ergh...I'm not watching live. There is so much on on Sunday that I already have my plate full! I can't even DVR the 9pm showing! I don't love it enough to bump any other show...but I'll watch it eventually!

Lucky me, I don't watch any of that stuff and TWD will be at the top for me. Live viewing. I was irked that I was going to miss it cause of the Dish Network crap but we got Direct TV the other day (after another set of channels was set to be lost on Dish) so now I'm ready and raring to watch it. Only other things I watch are the Fox animated shows and those are on later and to be DVR'd.

TWD usually gets replayed on AMC throughout the week and everything on ABC is available online the next day, no problems here :-)

I've informed my roommates and boyfriend that if I ever need my leg amputated not to go through with it if it's going to take more than two strikes.

I so had a feeling that things would not go good for that character. Yet T-Dog has been a supporting character at the front that doesn't even get in the credits and has continued to make it. Clearly he's watched a lot of horror movies and knows what to do to survive as the only Black man around.

If you've read the comic you understand Lori's purpose and fate. I just wish she wasn't as annoying.

Oh I've read the entire series. I started the series when it was like just getting to issue #50, read #1-49 all in one weekend, it was that good. I liked comic Lori. TV Lori is soooooooo annoying. So wishy washy and such. "You might have to kill Shane, to protect what is yours. Doooo it!" "You killed Shane?! Gasp get away from me!"

It still surprises me how well this show does. It's not your typical crossover hit like most procedurals and family comedies are, it's not a critical darling like the other big AMC shows , the fanboy community seems to be up and down on the shows quality and still America just cannot get enough of this show. just an observation.
Personally I think the show is ok, and mostly watch to see familiar comic moments play out on screen, but I am glad that the walking dead phenomena is impacting so many more people than the comics alone could ever reach.
As for the premiere episode, I thought it was awesome. I appreciate the time jumps as it cut down on a lot of the uselessness i felt from most of the characters last season, and it also gives me hope that the significant down time experienced at the prison in the books may be sped along since the whole winter timeframe was skipped here.
Carl has matured along with the actor, and Beth seems somewhat younger to me too in her actions...they gonna be bangin soon.
Maggie looked like such a badass in this episode, she made me forget all about Andrea. Speaking of, I can't wait to see her meet back up with ricks group and see if she harbors any resentment for being left behind. May take awhile for that though as it looks like her and michonne will be making a detour to a familiar place.
Interesting times ahead, has me pretty excited.

Yeah the Dish dropping channels lately, from AMC to local affiliates recently, is what spurred us to change to Direct TV as we sort of were getting tired of losing channels. Did it just in time for Walking Dead as I was pissed that they were keeping me from my Walking Dead.

Is it strange that I think that the fact the Govenor lied about killing the soldiers is worse than him actually killing the soldiers?

I don't understand why zombie scratches kill people. Can someone explain it? I'm reading the comics concurrently to the show though so if there is some explanation past issue 30 then don't spoil.

I don't think it was ever fully explained in book or such, but I believe that just like a bite any sort of wound caused by a Zombie that gets fluids and such into the wound compounds the infection already in you, in the case of the Walking Dead world, and intensifies it so you die from the infection and are reborn as Zombie. Opposed to you die some other way and then will rise up after you die.
Not strange Drunk. We just know now that you'd possibly be one of his followers :p lol.

I thought that was the idea. It makes virtually no sense to me. The virus is either spread by bodily fluids or it isn't. The "we are all infected" idea seems like trying to have your cake and eat it too.
