- A Long Standing X-Man
- A Telepath
- A Villian
- Any current X-Men Student
- A New Mutant/X-Force/X-Terminators/Generation X
- A International Mutant
- A Wildcard
1) Iceman -- he's the power player du jour in the group, combining high strength abilities as well as a lot of heroing experience and the authority and respect that would come with it. He's the de facto leader of the team because everybody defers to him, even though he'd rather not be in charge. The next growth experience for him. Iceman needs help relating to this team of people he mostly doesn't know, and therefore he recruits... 2) Karma -- The only New Mutant to have never really expanded beyond just being seen as a "New Mutant." Fraction used her in Uncanny a little but she was wallpaper. Much of her lack of growth as a character can be attributed to the fact that she was hardly ever around and never joined any other teams when she was younger. Time to get serious. Give Karma the ability to "Sage" her own powers to take her to the next level and give her a level of versatility that keeps her from straddling the line between useless victim and walking plot point. As a person, Shan is the one Bobby calls on to keep everybody as together as she can. She can also keep the team villain's own mental abilities in check... 3) Black Mamba -- Tanya's place on the team gives another person who can play up or down to what the situation calls for. She can be subtle and manipulative or she can bring out the heavy stuff, whatever they need her to do. To keep her from going out of hand with the mental powers, Karma can serve as a check. Bobby does sorta get that, while they shouldn't be looking for an excuse to go "dark" in their tactics, it's important to keep all options open. So he has Mamba here to serve that purpose although he hopes that he never has to use her in that way. Also, by having Mamba as a Darkforce user, we pretty much say that Darkstar isn't coming back. 4) Mercury -- Student? Gotta go with Cessily Kincaid. Another very versatile character that can go with what is needed. She'd be the heart of the group, without question, there to keep everybody honest and remind them of what they're fighting for when they forget or let their own issues get in the way. Karma, because she was a teacher, can work with Mercury to get the girl some non-X hobbies and possibly sponsor her for a degree or something. Mercury's a student, and Karma is probably the best person who can teach her how to not be an X-man. I would also see Mercury in a potential relationship with someone else further down the list. 5) Skids -- Well, I mean, she had to reappear sometime, right? Skids would be here for her connections to the non-X world around them. Former SHIELD connections can be very useful, indeed, and while Cyclops apparently never thought to do so with Moonstar, I think Bobby would see the pragmatism in this. And she'd be good company for fellow former secret/super-agent... 6) Micromax -- Every time he tries to be good at this superheroing thing, another writer comes along and makes a chump of him again. He needs to just rejoin the big leagues and stop being stupid. Association with competence and greatness can go a long way toward making somebody become better than what they used to be, so give the guy a chance. 7) Prodigy -- Gotta rep m' boy here. While he'd seem to fit in as the token depowered one, he's the wildcard in the sense that his role here would be entirely about avoiding being a niche in a team. He could take over from Iceman for tactics if need be, he could go hardcore and work with Black Mamba if he sees the use in it... Prodigy, exactly because he has no powers or background that would prescribe him to being one thing, could do just about anything that they need. He's got the skill and intelligence for it. And I think he'd be the kind of person willing to look beyond Mercury's lack of... well, flesh, and be happy with the person that she is.

Wolverine and Northstar count. They're both from north of the U.S. border, by birth. "International" doesn't necessarily exclude those who became nationalized citizens later, only a person who brings an "international" vibe.

Interesting... I guess I'll do this as well... so I have to make a team from
1.A Long Standing X-Man
2.A Telepath
3.A Villian (Does not have to be currently reformed)
4.A current X-Men Student
5.A New Mutant/X-Force/X-Terminators/Generation X
6.An International Mutant
7.A Wildcard(Wildcard can literally be anyone you want)
1. For a long standing X-Man I'm going to have to go with one of my two all-time favorite X-Characters... Storm.
2. For the Telepath I'm going to choose someone a little unexpected, Quentin Quire, he has the potential, not just to be the telepath but to cause a little trouble in the group.
3. Ah... a villain... I love using villains in ways people wouldn't expect. I would have to go with Sinister. His mind on a team of X-Men, he would have to be up to something big to be with them.
4. A current student... Does this mean those gathered in Gen Hope or those who have been around since before the Xavier Institute was destroyed? Well I guess I'd go with one of the ones from Gen Hope anyways because I find her fascinating, Idie Okonkwo.
5. A one of the old students... I grew up with the original New Mutants so I should choose one of them, but I'd rather choose Synch from Generation X.
6. An international mutant... Ilyana Rasputin, Magik... I've always been fond of her character...
7. Anything I want... Morph, Kevin Sydney, Changeling, whatever you want to call him... Morph...
Actually this would be an interesting team for a fiction...

- International Mutant: Wolverine
- Wild Card: Multiple Man
Three of my favorite stories have been Mike Carey's Supernovas arc, Morrison's run on New X-Men and all of Joe Casey's run on Uncanny back in the early 00's, so this takes cues from that, with some other stuff added. I don't know, I just feel like this would be a cool team to read. Like a mix of Banshee's X-Corps with the militant feel, and the idea of X-Corporation with offices all over the world. With Evangeline Whedon as a supporting character. It kind of makes me want to WRITE this team.

1. Longstanding X-Man: Wolverine
Written like he was in K&Y's X-Force run. Loved him in this, where he was written better than he had been in years, and IMO hasn't been written near as well since. I loved the way his interactions with Warpath and X-23 were written. Have Logan conflicted about Jean, have the tension between them, but this isn't the focus of the book.. develop their relationship in subtleties rather than obvious moments, and over a long period of time. Logan joins Jean without ulterior motives, and all she had to do was simply ask him to leave with her as she walks out.
2. Telepath: Phoenix (Jean Grey)
Team Leader. No Scott in the picture. She didn't get killed by Xorneto... just put in a coma. Have her immediately call it quits with Scott when she comes out of the coma since she has been aware all the time that he has been cheating (even if just psychically) on her with Emma. Don't have her all devastated by this, just matter of fact and indifferent towards him. I can see this team leaving the core X-Men and doing their own thing. I like my Jean written calm and self confident. She'd be the moral core of the team, but not above letting Logan doing what it takes to put the baddies down.
3. Villain: Spiral
SO much potential with this character. SO underused. I would have her return from the Wildways with Longshot after their rebellion had succeeded and Longshot et al were turned on by the people they liberated in a bid for their own power. Longshot saves her from execution and she stays with him to repay the debt. I would have her stay twisted, and would love to see a lot of the narration of the book written from varying perspectives of different team members. Have readers learn of Spiral through her narrations and inner thoughts, and really play on her actions versus her thoughts as character is developed.
4. X-Student: Dust
A hard call for this one actually, between Dust and X-23. I am huge fan of both, but ultimately I think Dust would be a great read when mixed in with the other characters. She joins this team because she believes not that this is the team that is going to necessarily going to do the most noble things or further mutant/human relations and Xavier's dream, but believes that they will do the most immediate good to remove threats from the board.
5. New Mutants: Rictor
I would start with a pre-PAD Rictor, still cocky and arrogant - but have had him beaten nearly to death when he jumps in to protect innocent bystanders from some super villain attack.. have him healed and hell-bent on bettering himself. I would have Logan mentoring him out of genuine respect for what how he put himself in harm's way for innocent people and his new drive. Also, I have always loved the relationship the X-Terminators and old New Mutants had with the original X-Factor, so I'd like to see him interact with Jean as a telepath he actually trusts.
6. International Mutant: Longshot (He counts sort of.. on both counts, right?)
Okay.. I admit this is a it of a stretch, but it's my team. :) In this book, Longshot led the rebellion on the Wildways, killed Mojo and became reluctant leader of the Freemen. He wants to return to Earth, but Dazzler wants to stay and rule "happily ever after". A group of trusted Freemen betray them in an grab for power and Dazzler is killed. Longshot literally snaps when this happens and sheds his innocence once and for all. He mercilessly kills all responsible, frees Spiral and turns his back on the whole dimension. He no longer uses his luck power, as his motives are no longer pure.. He becomes much darker and MUCH deadlier, and fights on a level that would do Wolverine proud... Like Shatterstar (X 10!).
7. Wild Card: Energizer (Katie Power from Power Pack)
Have her aged to about 17 years old, and weave her story together with Longshot and Spiral. Mojo captured the Power Pack and Katie "dies" while saving the rest of her siblings allowing them to escape back to Earth. Katie "dies" but is secretly taken to the Body Shoppe by Spiral and healed. She is aged while in a healing tank, and released upon her recuperation. She is now the same age as her brother Alex. and is definitely matured in mind and body, but has had no contact with her siblings even when returned to Earth. Her control of her "Energizer" power has increased exponentially thanks to Spiral, and she has renamed herself "Grail". Would love to see her explored as a character through team interactions and have her cross paths with the rest of the Powers at some point...

My team would be based on Muir Island. Finding themselves reborn after the Chaos War, Banshee and Moira head back to Muir Island, and decide to open it up as a home for Mutants. Not an army camp like Utopia, or a school like the Jean Grey Institute, but a home, and a center for research, as Muir Island was back in the day.
The team is formed as a reactive thing, to deal with any threats to the island, and also to deal with any threats in the UK or Europe, that the team will be able to get to faster than the X-Teams in the US.
Longstanding X-Man: Banshee
Sean's matured, and given that he's now stable and happy, he feels far happier leading a team than he ever did with X-Corporation. Moira would rather he stay in with her, but Sean can't resist getting back into the action.
Telepath: Psylocke
Following all of the things that have gone on with X-Force, Psylocke realises that she is scared of the woman who she's become. Wanting to hone her powers to a more skilful level, she heads to Muir Island.
After several weeks, she starts to relax, being closer to her family, and in a far more relaxed environment. She even starts dating Pete Wisdom, although somewhat tentatively. Whilst he can't believe his luck, she's somewhat more dubious, not wanting to fall in love too soon after Warren, but soon starts to find herself falling for him
Villain: Sinister
Hearing that Mr Sinister is in london, the group head down immediately, but what they find is not the Sinister of old - this one is amnesiac, simply wandering round London, as it seems familiar to him.
Following tests, Moira determines that he is one of Sinisters clones, but one who the process did not work fully on - he has Sinister's abilities, but in terms of personality, he's a completely blank slate. Moira decides to help him, coaching him in his abilities, and educating him in the ways of the world.
Sean starts to become worried that she may be using Sinister as a second chance, after her failure with Proteus, and the group also have to contend with Sinister gaining awareness of the clone, and coming to destroy what he sees as a failure
X-Student: Pixie
Alright, i'm not the biggest Pixie fan, but she doesn't feel like she fits in anywhere - she's not a soldier, and she feels too old to be at the Jean Grey Institute as a kid, and too experienced. She's a helpful commodity in terms of getting the group to any kind of crisis fast, and Betsy takes her to meet Brian and Meggan, and they help her gain a better hold of her magic, as well as introducing her to the Otherworld
Gen X: Chamber - Given the whole M-Day-Apocalypse face-New Warriors-Age of X changes he's been through, Chamber is even more messed up than usual. On a visit to the Jean Grey Institute, Banshee notices that Chamber isn't coping with his teaching duties at all, so brings him to Muir Island for a chance to recover and get his head together
International Mutant: Dazzler - Using Muir Island as a base while she heads out on her "Still Dazzlin', Still Fabulous" tour of the UK and Europe, Ali finds the more relaxed pace on the island to her tastes, so sticks with it. She likes nothing better than heading out with Pixie and TJ for a night out in the village pub, shocking the locals with their completely impractical and inappropriate outfits, then stumbling back to the house via the kebab shop, or having girlie nights in in their PJ's, watching "The Only Way is Essex", "Mannequin" and "Working Girl", and eating copious amounts of frozen yoghurt
Wild Card: TJ Wagner - Nocturne.
Because Muir Island isn't the same without someone cute, blue and furry there. Talia is devastated to return from her reality hopping adventures to find that 616 Kurt has died. Feeling close to him on Muir, she sticks with the team. She still has slight issues with dexterity following her stroke, but Moira sets up a rehabilitation plan to get her back on track.

Got really bored today...
The idea of this team is that it's takes place after Schism and assumes
Cable survives X-sanction. It's drawn completely from characters who
aren't already starring in other books.
A Long Standing X-Man: Sway
A Telepath: Cable
A Villain: Scalphunter
A current X-Men Student: Prodigy
A New Mutant/X-Force/X-Terminators/Generation X: Cannonball
An International Mutant: Dust
A Wildcard(Wildcard can literally be anyone you want): Surge
Cable is recuperating on Utopia and catching up on everything with
Cannonball. The X-tinction team and Psylocke's security detail have
teleported out to assist Hope's team in bringing a huge number of new
mutants who have suddenly appeared. There's a temporal stutter where
everything seems to repeat itself, but only he notices. Other members of
Utopia are going about there day when a young asian
woman appears out of mid air with an all too familiar x-men uniform on.
She babbles about being lost in time and how a secondary mutation must
of saved her life, literally turning back time from when she died. Cable
finally recognizes her as Sway, one of the mutants who died trying to
save the original X-men from Krakatoa. Somehow she's been drawn to Cable
due to his frequent time travel. As they're helping her to her feet, a
second figured appears dramatically, it's Kang the Conqueror who demands
they hand her over without trouble.
To which Cannonball replies "Buddy you don't know the X-men"
During the melee, Kang overrides Danger's systems and releases some of
her prisoners as a distraction. Scalphunter being not completely bad
helps out the X-men though. Eventually they fight Kang to a stand still
when finally the other teams, revealed to have been lured away by a
trick of Kang, return and threaten Kang with the full might of Cyclops'
X-men, who retreats vowing that it's not over.
Impressed by the way they worked together Cyclops suggested they form a
team led by Cannonball with Cable's guidance. While nominally a reserve
squad, they're still given mission much like the New Mutants and
Psylocke's team.

A Long Standing X-Man - Multiple Man - Man power A Telepath - Psylocke - Team Leader A Villian - Bishop - Welcome home Any current X-Men Student - Anole - Stealth A New Mutant/X-Force/X-Terminators/Generation X - Penance - Every team needs a pointy end A International Mutant - Northstar - Speedster A Wildcard - Slipstream - Teleporter * Hopefully Scarlet Witch cures all mutants ** Rockslide I doubt would stay if Anole left. I guess I have a stowaway. ;) *** Maybe Lifeguard & Thunderbird III make a guess appearance
X-Tream X-Men
Bishop returns to present time and Psylocke decides to take him off island as Summers and Hope are not happy for his return, nor is Wolverine so she cannot return to the school. Psylocke asks Northstar and Anole to come to Mutant Town. Before touching down they go and gather Penance & Slipstream. Scarlet Witch has cured all the former mutants, and thus Mutant Town has emerged from the slums. Psylocke is hoping being in his old haunts, Bishop would return from the edge he has been on. Multiple Man has left X-Factor wanting Havok & Polaris to take the helm and heads to Mutant Town to protect the born-again mutants from external threats. Psylocke takes control of an asset of Xaviers, a derelict X-Corporation facility in the middle of Mutant Town and reaches out to Multiple Man and gets him to join her team.

1. Iceman (leader) - He'd be kind of a Madrox-style leader, kind of out of his depth and barely holding things together, but always coming through in the end
2. No-Girl - I'd love to give Martha a much more prominent role and a more well-developed "voice" - possibly make her the - pun intended - brains of the team
3. Sienna Blaze - one badass b****, barely in control of her abilties, but making amends as best she can. Scarily powerful energy manipulator, the "big gun" if you will, as well as the teleporter.
4. Glob Herman - I'd want to enhance/define his powers a bit better - let him shape parts of his body at will or melt into a puddle. He also gets to be the physical powerhouse, even if he isn't the most powerful of powerhouses.
5. X-23 (can we use the broader definition of "X-Force"?) - Bobby and Laura would make great foils for each other; Bobby trying to make Laura loosen up and laugh would be a lot of fun. She gets the ninja/scrapper role. 6. Velocidad - I think it would be amusing for him to age in real time. And for him to embrace his fate, and become more mature and wise before our eyes. The speedster, of course, but also becoming the voice of grounded reason - the first to point out the consequences of their actions, because he's given himself more time to think. 7. Dr. Nemesis. Science bastard. 'Nuff said.

A Long Standing X-Man -- Beast Has a long time in the bussines and needs to push forward and step in on a leader role.
A Telepath -- Karma Needs to grow both as a character and with the use of her telepathic abilities. Add her coping with her mechanical limb.
A Villian (Does not have to be currently reformed) -- Selene Revived after Necrosha, she has a change of heart much like Emma after her coma, but not changing her methods or attitude.
A current X-Men Student -- Match The only one of the remaining students that I haven't seen develope in any way, as a character, his origins, or involved in any story. Guy needs a little of spotlight.
A New Mutant/X-Force/X-Terminators/Generation X -- Skids Love her powerset and her tragic past. Plus lately she has been a shield agent. That must be good.
A International Mutant -- Sunfire One of the oldest, that has been reluctanty a part of the X-Men. An interesting and vast character that has been misused and with a great potential. Also could serve as a mentor to Match.
A Wildcard (Wildcard can literally be anyone you want) -- El Guapo (from X-Statix) just because I want some members of this now defunct team to return, besides I've always find him and his skate fascinating.
I always have a likeness for underrated characters, the underestimated ones. So I made my X-Team of underdogs type (mostly). Characters so diferent, that are brought together because of the circumstances and that team up not because afinity or likeness or a common goal but because they have no other choice.

A Long Standing X-Man -- Northstar. Close enough. He co-leads with Psylocke and, as always, is an expert of smart-ass banter. His conversations with Unuscione in my head are hilarious. Feeling redundant as part of the core X-Team, he finds new purpose in founding a small "away" team, all or most of whom have similar feelings of estrangement from their fellow mutants for one reason or another. A Telepath -- Psylocke. Non-combat "Emma Frost" type telepaths are boring. Psylocke is better. Jaded and burned by her X-Force experiences and the "death" of Angel, she distances herself from her brother and the X-Men and re-learns the nuances of Omega-level telepathy while serving as the team's field-leader and combat trainer. A Villian (Does not have to be currently reformed) -- Unuscione. I like her power and her combination of bad attitude and nobility. Her family history would make for some interesting storylines. She'd essentially be the super-strength character of the team. A current X-Men Student -- Elixir. Powers growing out of control, they are telepathically suppressed by Psylocke (reluctantly, given her recent experience with trying to control Warren Worthington's 'Archangel' persona). Tentative relationship with Firestar, who relates to his struggle to constantly control his power. A New Mutant/X-Force/X-Terminators/Generation X -- Cypher/Warlock as one functional unit like way back in the first run of New Mutants. Also, it would be interesting to see Cypher and Psylocke interact after all this time. Like the others, he feels he doesn't fit anywhere in the X-World. Warlock follows, because why wouldn't he? A International Mutant -- Crosta. I have a thing for Atlanteans. I imagine him, Cypher, and Warlock becoming fast friends. I also enjoy when a character has to learn to fit into human society, which is how he relates to the other team members. A Wildcard (Wildcard can literally be anyone you want) -- Firestar. I've always wanted her to be a part of the X-Universe instead of lingering pointlessly on the "sort-of-an-Avenger/Spider-Friend" D-list. Plus, every team needs massive destructive potential, and she's a frequently overlooked resource in that department. She joins out of a lack of purpose, but refuses to join the core X-Teams because of Emma's presence (I would too).

Umm. Agree. I'm seriously jealous of that team. It's genius.
I decided to try this again, and ended up with a few members from my original team up :-/
Premise: In the aftermath of Avengers VS. X-Men, the mutant world is at a tumultuous place. The X-Men still aren't sure where they stand with one another. On top of that, dozens of 'new lights' have been showing up across the US. No one is quite sure why. The X-Men are racing to intercept these new mutants, but so are various other groups who have less than virtuous intentions. Several different teams splinter off to do their thing and the teams are selected partially for logistic reasons, and partially for personal reasons. Scott has a team out west, and Logan has also agreed to work in a new group of X-Force to try to stop the 'bad guys' from getting to these kids first.
The East Coast Team:
- Beast: He did a fantastic job with the X-Club, and he's been a quality member of the team forever. It's about time he leads a full fledged X-Men team of his own. The tension between Hank and Scott only escalated after the Phoenix Five ordeal, but he agrees that in this time of need, they need to find a way to work together. He organizes a team to take to the east coast, staying located in New York, that acts as kind of a 'street' team.
- Emma Frost: The turmoil between Scott and Emma could be cut with a knife. Scott is angry over the interactions between Namor and Emma, and Emma finds Scott ridiculous because it wasn't an affair had in her right mind, like his affair on Jean was. Scott is pissed, Emma thinks he's a hypocrite. She leaves and goes with Hanks partially out of spite.
- Xorn: An anomaly for everyone, no one is quite sure where Xorn came from. One of the first lights for Beast to respond to, Xorn has no memory of his past life, his experiences as 'Magneto', or awareness of who he is. Beast added him to the team partially to try to help 'fix' him and partially out of morbid curiosity for what the deal with him is.
- Kid Omega: Quentin comes off as a jackass, and has been villainous in the past, but Beast has formed a bond with him and has made it his personal mission to reform him.
- Husk: I think it's really time she does something besides make cameo appearances and date Angel. Being at the JG School has jogged her memories of what happened to her brother, and she doesn't want to let it happen these other, new mutants.
- Chamber: Chamber has been working with Beast to try to figure out how he came out of Legion's illusion with his mutant abilities intact. His connection with Hank and his ties to Husk brought him to joining.
- Iceman: I'd consider Bobby to be one of, if not, Hank's best friend. He's a veteran X-Man who has an ability to easily relate to other people and he's crazy powerful. He's a great addition.

A Long Standing X-Man -- Storm
A Telepath -- Psylocke
A Villian (Does not have to be currently reformed) -- Rogue
A current X-Men Student -- Gonna punt and say Dazzler even though she doesn't fit the bill.
A New Mutant/X-Force/X-Terminators/Generation X -- Wolverine
A International Mutant -- Colossus
A Wildcard (Wildcard can literally be anyone you want) -- Havok
Add:
A Nonmutant -- Longshot
Does that lineup look familiar? Best X-Men Team Ever.
