The game autosaves, at least on the Xbox. I'm playing as Adrian with energy manipulation and also as an X-Man.
Shakes, the best way I've found to beat the Purifier Cleansers is to equip either Gambit's or Northstar's utility and run around the back of them because they turn VERY slowly.
I'm enjoying it, except for the inclusion of Pixie. Can't help but feel like Illyana would have been a nicer touch and felt like the New Mutants were included.
Not going to lie-- looking forward to getting the Psylocke costume to see how ridiculous it looks on a man!

I beat this game today and it is shockingly short. If you didnt care about collecting anything and were good at it, you could probably beat it in under five hours.

One way you can "force" an autosave: go intothe options and change something - feel free to change it right back. The game will autosave regardless of if you've passed a checkpoint. You will start back at the last checkpoint but you will keep any genes and costumes you've recently found at least.

Thanks! I got a Psylocke gene and then had to go back and didn't have it. Then I got her costume and I was bound and determined not to lose it. I don't have Gambit or Northstar's utility :( Ugh I'm almost over playing it, but I think I'll try to push through.
On a funny side note, my friend was over the other night to watch scary movies and she saw the game sitting on the entertainment center and asked why in the world there was a game about X-Men Dentistry. Gotta love the Romanian

Ok so I totally caved and got this.
Game spoilers ahead BEWARE!!!!
It's an OK game but it blatently has more appeal if you are an X-fan no doubt about it. The gameplay is much like the XMen Legends style of hitting the same two buttons again and again as hoards of enemies come towards you. I played Adrian and went with the density control power and sided with the Brotherhood. They said it was "the ability to control his body density"....but really it was just Avalanche's power used in a more creative way.
I have already beat the game....it was very short. But I have yet to reply on another character. Does anyone know if you keep all the collectables/x-genes on another play-through or do I have to get them all again. I only managed to complete Quicksliver's X-Mode. Both his and Psylocke's x-gene's are useful, especially when you go to dodge.
I found the boss battles un-necesarily hard. Sublime's was a pain....I must have tried that 20 times (not kidding either). In the end I had to really exploit the dodge and block buttons. What annoyed me with him was there was no clear instructions of what to do on the third phase. I stood there not really knowing what to do....his hand came down...and bamn I was dead because I had barely any life left from the previous two rounds. As I said it took multiple deaths to figure out how to beat him. The sentinel was similar.....it just dumped me on the rooftop and then the attack started. There was no clue that I had to hit the chest piece at a certain time.
The X-gene's were a nice inclusion and the characters power changed a lot depending on how much you had equipped. I know some people were disappointed they couldn't play as their favourite XMen but in all honesty if you have 2-3 of Iceman's on then you were essentially playing as him. I did get a kick out of seeing the lesser known mutants shine like Northstar, Surge, Pixie and Caliban and the fact the likes of Rogue, Storm, Beast ect were nowhere to be seen. I did find it odd however that we could equip x-genes of Psylocke and Avalanche yet neither appeared in the game. And the final boss batlle rotated through Avalanche, Psylocke and Magma's powers. Again, this felt very much like fan service.
All in all it was a nice playthrough but also forgettable. The story was good if a little fan-orientated. Most of the general public think of the XMen as being in a mansion/school with Professor X as the leader. This was NOTHING of the sorts....it was very much extracted from the recent 2-3 years of comic books (blend of Utopia/Second Coming crossovers) and there was little lead-up.....you were just thrown into it.
If they could apply this story and graphics to the xMen legends games then it would be a great step forward.

Density Control is much much more like Rockslide's powers than Avalanche's.
I liked the story but the problem with a Purifiers-type plot is it
eliminates most of the villains. X-Men primarily fight evil mutants and
evil mutants can't really team-up with Purifiers. And while the X-Men
were somewhat diverse the Brotherhood were as cliche of a line-up as
possible.
After you beat the game you keep whatever powers and collectibles you had (your stats still show like 1/3 challenges so you know how many more to get this time) but your faction meter resets so you can get the other ending. The only bummer is you have to replay as the same character with the same power type.
Also it seemed like it might be avoidable so Gremlin I'm wondering in
your game did

Fantastic game for fandom, but its shockingly short, which I was incredibly disappointed with. I played Brotherhood, straight out the bat, as Adrian, with desnity control. I got the Avalanche full X-Mode Set, as well as Northstars also, both of which were really cool. I didn't object to the x-gene system, it was fun.
There were some fairly obscure characters there, the Pixie's and Northstars, whcih was cool. I'd have liked there just to have been more. Felt a bit part-finished, if that makes sense?

Yeah, I've been playing this since Saturday and have already completed it twice. Waaay too short and a bit repetitive on the battle sequencing. Some variety in play with some puzzles or something rather than just standard battles would have been cool. I also agree that they could have thrown in some variety in the bad guys... maybe some tunnel-dwelling mutants or mind-controlled mutant operatives of the U-Men. The Reavers could have fit into the story nicely as well, given their ties to the Purifiers. And there was a surprising lack of bosses to defeat.
What I'm really itching for is a Dragon Age/Mass Effect style X-Men game with the ability to design your own mutant character, develop a team of mutant allies, build relationships with the supporting cast, etc.

I don't like this game at all.
The worst part of this game is it was a videogame about X-Men and you cannot even play the X-Men characters.

http://kotaku.com/5955223/what-went-wrong-with-silicon-knights-x+men-destinyFigured people might be interested in this since it is X-men related. Interesting look into the development of X-men Destiny and the current state of Silicon Knights...

Huh... I did two playthroughs. One on easy difficulty, one medium. I played both storylines, X-Men and Brotherhood and now I'm missing only one trophy (playthrough on "hard") for platinum. I really liked this game, don't really know why so many people say it's bad. Of course it's no Mass Effect or Dragon Age, it's just an average action game, but fun nonetheless.
I played Adrian with "shadow matter", full Cyclops X-Gene gear.

I have a copy of this for Wii sitting here waiting for me to get around to it. I bought it for three dollars so honestly it would have to be like "ET on Atari" bad for me to feel upset about my investment.

Alex I do everything like a hawk.
This isn't DC Comics -- Marvel continuity doesn't die out if you don't water it often enough.
The whole Batman idea is a very childish response to childhood trauma.
