1.One member of the Trinity(Cap, Thor, Iron Man or a variation of them)
2.A Long Standing Avenger
3.A Villian (Does not have to be currently reformed)
4.An International Hero
5.A Cosmic character
6.A Mutant
7.A Wildcard(Wildcard can literally be anyone you want)
1. Any variation of the trinity... be glad I'm not making a comedy team or Frog Thor would be here... but I'd have to with Beta Ray Bill for the variation of the trinity...
2. Hawkeye... hands down... I'm a longtime fan of Clint and I'd let myself down if I didn't choose him.
3. Doom... Dr. freaking Doom... seriously, Doom is one villain that has proven several times that he can play the hero, and he has the political skills and clout to get the team around.
4. Silver Samurai, for some reason I think he should be in this team...
5. Never read too many of the comics featuring the Cosmic Characters of the Marvel Universe... but I have read a few... I guess I'd choose one of the Starjammers, Hepzibah.
6. Penance... a too little used mutant that would make an interesting addition to the team.
7. Shadowcat... she's been an Agent of SHIELD so it would be interesting to see her be a member of the Avengers...

I was thinking the other day that I'd love to see a team that subverted the core trinity by being made up of the Punisher, Ares and War Machine.

That sounds like something straight out of the 90s, Wolfthomas, hahaha. I'm having flashbacks to the Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Grey Hulk Fantastic Four.
But yeah, my list? 1) A member of the Trinity: Thor 2) A long standing Avenger: Hawkeye 3) A villain: Constrictor 4) An international hero: Black Knight 5) A cosmic hero: Mantis 6) A mutant: Scarlet Witch 7) A wildcard: Elsa Bloodstone
As you can see, they're mostly a magic based team, something I'd really like to see more of in the MU. We've had the cosmic revival. We've had the street revival. Let's get us a supernatural revival started.

So this is is my 90's anti-hero Deadly Avengers, called by together by Death to stop several threats to the balance in the universe (much like what we saw with the cancerverse), but more localised to earth. The team is built around the idea of an Avengers' pantheon but as a force for death and subsquently has a lot skull imagery.
One member of the Trinity(Cap, Thor, Iron Man or a variation of them), War-machine, filling the Iron-man role in the team, also trying to keep everyone under control.
A Long Standing Avenger, Spider-woman (Jessica Drew), willing to kill but with restraint, she is the team's conscience and fills the Spiderman role. Black and white costume change.
A Villian (Does not have to be currently reformed), Taskmaster, acting as kind of the Hawkeye of the group.
An International Hero, Ares (I know it's cheating a little, but he is a Greek god), plucked from Hades pretty much doing what he does best. Filling the Thor role.
A Cosmic character, Martyr, resurrected and given a second chance to be Death's champion, fills the Ms Marvel/Photon/Captain Marvel role
A Mutant, X-23, trying to avoid killing but being dragged back into the game, fills Wolverine role (without putting him on a third Avengers team).
A Wildcard(Wildcard can literally be anyone you want) The Punisher, creates some frictions between him, Taskmaster and Ares (who is quite proud of Frank). Fills Captain America role.
Lots of gratituous violence and disappointed looks from Steve Rogers.

This would be a street-level team, cleaning up the bank robbers and stuff that the other heroes don't have time for.

Trinity: Capt. America Bucky A Long Standing Avenger: Quicksilver A Villian: Baron Mordo (is that his name?) An International Hero: NamorA Cosmic character: SuperskrullA Mutant: Wolverine (cause he rock as an avenger)
A Wildcard: Kaine
I'v always wanted to put Scott on the Avengers - but as a leader, not in the shadow of a flag, god or ironman. but he doesnt fit on this one. Villan i was going to go Exodus but i didnt want it to be too mutant dominated, so put in a majic guy. Thought superskrull was a great idea. Kaine cause we have the same name lol nah he's cool, man.
Leadership would be between Namor and Quicksilver!

Legion would've put this roster over the edge. I actually think it would be a pretty funny short story, like in all these anthology-type minis coming out, actually seeing these characters TRY to be the Street Level/Bank Robbers team....

I know this is like my third one, this has become my go to topic of brainstorming when I get bored.
In wake of the current cosmic crisises, Steve Rogers with the backing of the UN decides to offer aid to planets that request it, to promote galactic unity (and to show that earthlings should be taken seriously). A small team is formed, no costumes, but wearing casual uniforms like what foreign aid workers wear (like what Ellis did in Atonishing) or space suits on less hospitable planets. The team would probably vary it's roster, as it's missions are infrequent. But the first line up is:
A Long Standing Avenger, Hank Pym, leads the team, being the brains of the outfit, utilizing his dimensional door ways to transport the team. The compassionate scientist building dams and irrigation system for aliens. One member of the Trinity(Cap, Thor, Iron Man or a variation of them), Rescue, Pepper Potts is a just a given with her suit. Salvage and rescue, hostile enironments. A Villian (Does not have to be currently reformed), Asorbing Man, on parole with Hank Pym's support. Using his powers to adapt to new and unique environments An International Hero, Echo, the idea of a deaf ninja in space seems such a fish out of water that I love it, a tender moment when she communicates with a non-verbal race through drawing. A Cosmic character, Cynosure, from the Luminals, providing an intergalactic liason and connection to Knowhere. I like the idea of her being a famous space hero (or at least legacy to one) that none of the humans have heard of. A Mutant, Magneto, I was tossing up between him and Beast, but I don't want to double up on Hanks and I love the idea of Erik, sans costume helping, build alien shelters with his powers. Does he have a hidden agenda or does he genuinely want to help them? A Wildcard, Blue Marvel, too powerful for earth but might work quite well in the cosmic setting, the heaviest lifter on the team. Smart enough to provide a foil for Hank and I could see him and Magneto getting along. Also the big gun to deter enemies.

1. Trinity: Bucky Barnes
2. Long standing: Iron Man
3. Villain: Ares
4. International: Crystal
5. Cosmic: Quasar (Phyla Vell)
6. Mutant: Quicksilver
7. Wildcard: Iron Fist
I feel like this would obviously be a darker Avengers team. Definitely not the Avengers they'd want to advertise to the world, but still one I'd like to read.

I will actually stand by this team as a legitimately great team that should get written.
One member of the Trinity: Iron Man.
...I kinda like Steve Rogers out of his uniform. I don't buy Bucky taking over the mantel permanently. Thor has always been a little wonky in continuity to me. I'll just say Tony Stark.
A Long Standing Avenger: Hawkeye.
...always pretty great.
A Villian: Songbird.
...trying to figure out if this tips the team towards being filled with too many women. Songbird works crowd control, keeping everybody safe, and she has a good dynamic with Hawkeye.
An International Hero: Captain Britain.
...absolutely. This sends a message that this is a worldwide team. Thor is a confusing member for many reasons. Captain Britain has the patriotism thing and he's the super strong member/Superman-type. He's also hilariously civilized and would doubtlessly have a great dynamic with Tony Stark. Meggan hangs around the tower and annoys Jarvis.
A Cosmic character: Ms. Marvel.
...she's enough of a heavy to be considered cosmic.
A Mutant: Storm.
...she's a perfect dignitary. I think that the most anti-mutant bigot would still look at Storm in awe. She's perfect for the Avengers.
A Wildcard: Spider-Woman.
...but definition, she's a wild card. Spider-Man doesn't work for me. Spider-Woman certainly could. I also like her with Ms. Marvel.

I was thinking of a team that could slot into the current
continuity without too much stealing of characters or sharing between. We have a team lead by Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Luke Cage and Hank Pym's
junior squad. I got to thinking that Carol Danvers deserved to lead an
Avengers team, she did lead the Mighty Avengers but with a lot of interfering
from Tony. So I give you the Mighty Avengers.
The plot that sets up this team is that there's a meta-human attack on the UN
assembly (topical) while Ms Marvel is pulling a security detail and these are
some of the characters who respond to disaster, saving the day before the rest
of the Avengers arrive, prompting Carol to suggest to Steve that she reconstitutes
the "Mighty Avengers".
A Long Standing Avenger – Ms Marvel, she’s the leader of
the team and an experienced powerhouse.
One member of the Trinity – Thunderstrike, the new one. He’s
outside the UN assembly protesting just because a cute girl invited
him. When trouble goes down he joins the fight. The hotheaded
youngster of the group, trying to live up to his father’s legacy
An International Hero – Arabian Knight (III), there’s not
much about this character, but I love his costume (or lack there
of) and power set (flight from a suit made out of an unravelled magic carpet, a
magic sword and a sash that can extend and grap or whip enemies). He’s there to
protect the Saudi Arabian delegates and their embassy after his government
decides that New York is getting too dangerous. He joins the Avengers unwillingly
as his government wants the positive publicity (as well as an inside man). He’d
be interesting to read as he might be initially disrespectful of Carol because
of her costume and his background, but he’d warm up to the team and come to be a
valued member and could be used to subvert stereotypes of foreign Muslims.
A Cosmic character – Mantis, a former avenger, she’s
returned to Earth after all the conflicts in the cosmic arena and is at the UN
assembly to give a brief summary of what’s going on in space. She joins the team
as a useful Psychic and martial artist.
A Wildcard(Wildcard can literally be anyone you want) –
Machine Man, where Carol goes Aaron goes, he’s pulling security with Carol when
the attack happens. Comedy relief and tech guy.
Those are the core five of the team. The last two are working
as private security for the Swiss delegation when the attack goes down. They
stay for the first arc or two but disappear depending on their business obligations. They’re
kept on a retainer and promises of “get of jail” privileges. Maybe with the newfound publicity it's hard for them to find merc jobs and they choose an Avenger check.
A Villian (Does not have to be currently reformed) -
Taskmaster, he's undeniably cool and maybe sticks around as Mantis trys to recover his memories for him.
A Mutant – Domino, I'd love to see her try to be a mainstream superhero with a new costume and stun weaponry. Edit: Also I've been thinking about this but I'd have them hang in a wing of the Infinity Mansion (if it still exists), it's makes sense as the second Mighty Avengers used it and allows interactions between Jocasta and Machine Man, Finesse and Taskmaster and Thunderstrike to hang out with the trainee Avengers. Could totally see Surge spying on Domino.

So I’m not sure what forum this should go in, but based on
the excellent “make an X-team” and “make an avengers team” threads, I decided
to think bigger. This is a Multiverse Defense Team, assembled by a vast cosmic
being (you) to defend all the universes. Like the Exiles but drawn from an array of
comic book companies.
Each character’s powers work in different universes (Dr Strange can still do magic, The Flash can access the Speed-force).
Heroes, villains or anyone, just as long as they get the job done. They can be pulled from anytime in their history too.
These are the rules:
1. A regular Marvel (616) Universe character
2. A dharacter from any other Marvel Universe (Ultimate,
AoA, 2099 etc)
3. A regular character from the DC Universe, this can be
pre-relauch or post
4. A DC elsewords or alternative universe character (eg. DKR
Batman or Red Son)
5. A Vertigo or Icon character
6. A Wildstorm character (before it became defunct)
7. A Darkhorse, Image, Dynamite, Boom!, or Topcow character
8. Literally any other comic character, you could have
Tintin or Vladek Spiegelman if you really wanted. You can also double up on any
of the above. I'll post mine once I've done some thinking. Edit: If a character can fit in multiple catergories go with whatever you want. Constantine can be Vertigo or regular DCU. Any of the Boy's could be Wildstorm or Dynamite. Apollo could be DCU or Wildstorm.
Also feel free to complain about my arbitary rules. My choices
Regular Marvel (616) Universe character – Cable
2. A Character from any other Marvel Universe – (Exiles) Blink
3. A regular character from the DC Universe – Zatanna
4. An Elsewords or alternative universe character –
Batman (Kal-El) from Speeding Bullets, if you haven't read it, basically Kal-El gets found by the Waynes and raised to be their son, Bruce. The full powers of Superman with the background and motivations of Batman.
5. A Vertigo or Icon character – Mazikeen Lightbringer from Lucifer
6. A Wildstorm character – Jakita Wagnar from Planetary
7. An Image, Dynamite, Boom!, or Topcow character – Max Damage
from Incorruptible.
8. Literally any other comic character. – Atomic Robo
