So I know that the first issue has come out now, but the mini-series and the second issue are out this coming week. I was wondering, is anyone else here planning on getting every mini-series? I thought about it, and in the end decided to give it a go, just because I love alternate realities.
What's everyone feeling on this event so far from the first issue and the first Booster Gold tie-in?

I'm too involved in the GL's to get all the miniseries but I love if you those who do get them would post synopsis or spoilers. If they want of course...But I'm getting the main series.

I'll do what I can. While I'm set to pull all of the minis, I may be pushing actually purchasing them back through September and October, haha. I'm okay on cash for the first few weeks, but continuing it for three months may not be possible.
Why DC chose to do 16 mini-series still baffles me. I'm a compulsive completionist, so of course I'm gonna shell out $50 more per month if it means I'll be able to get the whole story (especially after regretting not doing it for the Blackest Night mini-series for Superman, Flash, and Wonder Woman). So yeah, clearly there's a market for these mini-series, because I'm it, but I worry that they're going to drain dry their major fanbase.

I would have thought they'd have done what Marvel did with Age of Apocalypse, Age of X, or even House of M to a degree...change over the main books for a few months. It would have really been shocking...

Initially, I wasn't hyped over this event at all and I'm a Flash fan. Mainly because DC is trying hard to push Barry as the Flash. Wally West has all but disappeared from the DCU and no one at DC will offer fans any reasons why beyond glib answers that do nothing but insult the fans. Asked point blank, Johns admits the focus of this event is Barry and the DCU. I like Barry. I like Wally. I can deal with the changes done to Barry's history & character as part of his 'modernization' to broaden his appeal to current readers. But to do it at the expense of Wally, the first sidekick to ever fulfill the promise of such? The Flash is unique in that the focus recently was upon the Legacy of the hero, that the name and core values will live on through the descendants of West, Allen, and others. But DC seems to have forgotten that in it's zeal to replicate the success of Hal Jordan's return. That being said, I got the first issue. Damn Johns for making it interesting. The reveal at issue's end was interesting, perhaps not a new idea as such, but now I am interested in seeing where it goes. The new takes on the characters are also intriguing. (Hello Element Girl! ) As for the minis, money prohibits my getting them all. Besides, the only ones I'd be interested in are the Capt. Cold and Kid Flash minis (Look! Sterling Gates finally gets to write Kid Flash. It only took two years after the initial title announcement ) I can't figure out what mini, if any, the SHAZAM kids are in. If so, I'd get that one as well. But now I am more interested in this event. Though I doubt I won't like Aquaman any better after this despite Johns' best intentions.

HA! Thanks for the link, EMP! Also, BC, I'll post pretty brief spoilers if I get the chance on Wednesday. Question, though, as you said yourself you're too wrapped up in Green Lantern stuff, will you be getting Abin Sur's or Hal Jordan's mini-series in this?

Much like Fear Itself, I picked up Flashpoint #1 with no clue as to what it was supposed to be about. I thought it was pretty fun. It laid the stakes out nice and clearly and made the storyline a little easier to invest myself in than FI#1 and 2 did. Can't stand Barry Allen or Cyborg, so while I'm nervous about the focus being on them, this issue gave me hope because of all the craziness and the interesting characters surrounding them.
I will continue with it, but I only plan on getting 2 of the spinoff minis. Wonder Woman and Aquaman. My brain has always pictured the proper depictions of these characters as leaders of nations more concerned with their own peoples survival than fitting in with Americans. Can't wait to see DC's royalty embrace the non super hero parts of their heritage and duke it out.

I'm getting the GL tie-in. I'm also interested to read about the Gorilla City stuff, since it's caused such a hoopla recently.

The cover to Flashpoint #2 is literal. This is officially the best thing Geoff Johns has been responsible for.

Barry Allen used the cosmic treadmill to time travel during the Silver Age. Wally West didn't need it.

Sooo glad Marvel is not rebooting!!!!
I am all about clean breaking, but I have been enjoying my Green Lantern titles, so I am it sure how this whole Green Lantern world is going to be 5 yes ahead of tr begining of the new 52 and that is suppost to explain why Jordan has the ring in the new Justice league 1. But five years later Green lantern comics are coming to continue writing stories that connect to everything to had happened in. The old DC. Because we now have the "rainbow counsel", Blackest Ning happened, so I am totally confused!!!!
So does that mean that in the current time of the green lanterns Superman and Lois are Married, Batman did die And came back and the events of brightest day do happen just five years later?
This is going to kill me as I read te only group of comics that still have the old DC Universe as a backdrop!

Simple explaination: Green Lantern isn't changing much at all because it is very popular right now and Johns is still writing it. Only assume that storylines in the past happened if they are referenced in story by the characters, and even then, anticipate that some details will have changed. Some people are begging for a wikipedia style listing which describes all of the details of what has changed and what hasn't in the new timeline, but something like that would be more confusing and filled with inconsistencies, missing info, and contradictions, so I'm gonna just assume everything is different until I see how the new versions of the past are represented in story.
That Flashpoint ending was a weak end to a bad series. DC couldn't have pulled the plug on this post Infinite Crisis universe soon enough IMO. I can't get past Bruce crying in front of barry. That scene, and all of the timetravel stuff was just blah. I would have preferred more time being spent on the big Aquaman Wonder Woman battle followed by a flash to white or something as Zoom was defeated, bringing in the new universe. But whatever, it's done.
