But even Ultimate Nick Fury was like 616 Fury when he debuted in Ultimate X-Men. And why would anyone want to be Ultimate Nick when the 616 one has more panache? Sam needs a jetpack. Jetpacks make everything better.
Also, the toxic buzz from rabid Transformers fans didn't stop the Bayformers movies from making bank.

I think he's good for the role. He pulls off the cocky authority figure role well.

Yeah well bad word of mouth didn't really affect X-Men 3...though Wolverine Origins didn't do to well... And no I really don't think Sam Jackson is even like Ultimate Nick Fury...despite U Nick Fury being modeled after him...I think Ultimate Nick Fury isn't just "badass" that Nick Fury plays him as..but he's snarky and cool and can match quick with Peter Parker himself...I think Sam Jackson Nick Fury just has sort of...typical "authority funny lines", like "time to call in the big guns har har!"

Does anyone else think it's odd that Black Widow wears an official SHIELD jumpsuit but the other SHIELD agents wear business attire or SWAT gear?

The ones in suits make sense to me - they are clearly the "Men in Black" types of agents who are trying not to attract attention.
I'll agree that the SWAT uniformed Agents are a bit weird. I guess they are supposed to be the grunt types like Eric O'Grady used to be.
But clearly Widow has to have her own cool uniform. How else would you know she is important?

I think the action of this movie will be pretty inspired, from that trailer. Let's just hope the dialogue and plotting are as well, but with Whedon at the helm I'm not too scared. Although, with him it's usually certain someone will die or something tragic will happen at the end...if they make Black Widow a turncoat spy, I'm all for it. I might even have a little more respect for Scarlett Johanssen if they do that.

I haven't seen any trailers, but it sounds like it could all come together and form a good movie. I even heard "talk" that an Avengers 2 is being planned.
Just wondering: do we know the release date yet?

Yeah, I really have! LOL.
Sometimes they ruin the feel I would have had, had I not seen/heard/read things, so for this movie, I really stayed away. Will try hard to continue that way until I see it.
Thanks for the date. I thought I heard a date of like May 4, 2012 early last year, but I didn't know if that had changed (as they often do, especially if they encounter problems that we don't know about) or not. So, it seems like it did change a few days. Glad it is not later, like July, because I really want to see this movie.

It's usually the Friday before Free Comic Book Day, if that helps.

I think Scarlett would be better suited to playing the second Black Widow.
New pics of Maria Hill show that she's also wearing a proper SHIELD uniform. So SHIELD is just sexist when it comes to who has to wear their jumpsuit.

While dodging other info related to the movie, I did find out that the release date is indeed: Friday, May 04, 2012.

Saw the movie here in Australia (it premiered 25/4, ANZAC day which is a public holiday). It's pretty darn awesome.

Also saw the Avengers today as it premiered here in New Zealand. The Avengers is, in my opinion, a very well made, smart, fun film. The cast are all in fine form, everyone gets decent screen time and purpose. The story is engaging, the script clever, the computer animation realistic and exciting. Without giving away any spoilers, the film defied my expecations, and I am excited to see it again.

I saw a meme on Reddit tonight with Bad Time Ski Instructor from South Park. "If you didn't watch Thor before the Avengers, you're gonna have a bad time."
I've been really excited about this movie since the trailers came out, but now I find myself not wanting to go because of AvX. I just have to keep reminding myself that the movie Avengers aren't the ones beating up my X-Men.

Saw it today too.. Loved it.. I think with marvel films being what they are. My expectations were pretty low.
I was blown out of the water. It was awesome to see the hellicarrier etc.
The characters were written with a great balance.. Everyones history was delved into and there was so much individual movie info woven evenly into the whole thing
Loved even the Hulk stuff.. Some funny moments
And the city battle was just awesomely epic..like I took a second to step back and watch it and I was just like " this is awesome"

Why does the rest of the developed world get a head-start in seeing this movie?

Why am I even listening to you to begin with? You're a virgin who can't drive.

I literally asked the same thing. As the biggest market, it doesn't make sense that we get it last (or next to last).

Maybe it's because we are living in the future?
Although, it's ONLY the blockbusters that we get a day or two ahead of the States. We haven't even got Cabin in the Woods yet, and it's not on any upcoming release schedule, and that's p*ssing me off!

Well Cabin in the Woods wasn't exactly a blockbuster, it didn't set the country on fire. Plus it's been delayed for tow years...I don't think you'll see it on your schedule anytime soon. It didn't get a big push from the studio. But hopefully it will be out on DVD soon(since I don't see it being in theaters longer then a month from now).
