This isn't to comment on any of the ideas for the Universes posted so far, just to give a little input on the idea of shared universes.
I think part of what makes shared universes so enjoyable to read is that when a writer looses muse for a title, or can't write it any longer, instead of the title just being dropped or lost forever, another writer can pick it up and readers can see where a second writer would pick up the pieces and rearrange them and take a second look at what's been going on so far. It's like in the actual comics. It's rare that just one writer writes a series, and then the series ends. Usually, another creative team picks the title up, and continues on.
When I first came to UXN, X-M was just starting, All*Star was growing, and 617 was established. Those things just amazed me as someone who didn't even know what fanfiction was at that point, the fact that a community of people would work together to create an entire world of stories. Part of what I've always loved about UXN is that there are those shared universes, like MO and M2K, but there is also a general section, and an option to create your own Universe within certain parameters. Writers and fans have all of these options to expand on creativity. If they have an idea for a team title, but the idea doesn't fit into one of the shared universes, the team title is already being written, or some of the cast members are being used, then the writer can do a solo effort for the GS, and still get to tell their stories.
A bit ramble-y, but just my random two cents.
