Ok after reading New Avengers #18 I just couldn't resist this. If you were Norman Osborn, and the Hand, Hydra, AIM and HAMMER had all united under your leadership, who would you bring together as your Dark Avengers?

I won't put too many restrictions up, like you have to have a Spider Man, Iron Man etc, you can choose whoever you want.  However, remember that the theme of the Dark Avengers is villains/darker characters posing as established Avengers. If you can justify Terrax stepping in as Jack of Hearts then go for it Big%20smile. There's no roster limit either, if you want to replace the original five or the entire current roster go for it.

Ok here's mine:

Captain America: John Steele, the super soldier from Secret Avengers.

Hawkeye: Crossfire. Clint Barton's nemesis and an expert marksman. I think he would hit home even harder than Bullseye in the role.

Spider Man: Venom (Flash Thompson). I almost said Kaine, but I couldn't see him working for Osborn. Flash, on the other hand, could easily be manipulated I imagine. I could see Osborn tricking him and telling  him he's been transferred to this group.

Scarlett Witch: Satana. Freed from the clutches of the Thunderbolts, Satana happily joins the Dark Avengers for a chance at a little retribution.

Giant Man: Goliath (Tom Foster). Last seen in the New Avengers annual. This guy holds a serious grudge against many of the Avengers for killing his uncle Bill.

Wolverine: Daken. I don't think he held any grudge against Osborn, like a couple of the other Dark Avengers, so I could see him coming back. He was good fun on the team too, manipulating everyone.

Black Widow:
Mystique. She's worked with Osborn before, albeit under duress, and last we saw her she was on death's door thanks to Wolverine. Osborne saves her and put her on the team.

There's go my afternoon, I'll be back.

Edit:
I didn't want to use alot of the old Dark Avengers, the New Dark Avengers or any that you'd suggested (they're great, I just don't want to copy). I wanted a classical feel.

So here's my team:

Captain America/Iron Man - Iron Patriot (Norman Osborn), it's a given.

Thor - Ragnarok, the concession to what I said above, I like the idea of Ragnarok becoming Norman's attack dog, much like the Sentry did. Manipulating him to believe that he is his the real Thor and that Norman is his greatest ally. The big guy whose always following Obsorn. He needs a different costume, one of Thor's other past costumes.

Spiderman – The Jackal, I'd keep this a secret for a while, there might be an interesting animosity with him and Osborn over the clone saga. He has the physical abilites and intelligence to impersonate Spiderman, whatever he couldn't do he could make tech to replicate (webshooters). I think he'd have a perverse pleasure in doing this. Probably a clone.

Hawkeye – Taskmaster, has past experience with Osborn, as the skills to replicate Hawkeye.

Vision – Egg Head (Young Masters)  & Wasp – Big Zero (Young Masters), using a hologram and fake wings respectively.

Scarlett Witch – Enchantress (Amara), has the magic to replicate Wanda's hex blasts, maybe her own agenda.

Quicksilver - Whirlwind, could see Norman Osborn blackmailing him into this role, would wear a mask.

Taskmaster is a great addition, as Osborn could put him as any of the male, skills based Avengers. Captain America, Hawkeye,Swordsman etc.

For a less obviously Norman Osborn Dark Avengers I add the following to my above team:

Captain America - William Burnside 50's Cap, we never saw his body.
Iron Man - Detroit Steel, if he's alive after Fear

Captain America: Bullseye.
Iron Man: Titanium Man. Or maybe someone new wearing the armor.
Firestar: Silk Fever. Always liked her look.
Giant Man: Tower. Can't think of anyone who would fit better.
Moon Knight: Shroud. Double agent.
Black Widow: Diamondback. The other double agent.
Quicksilver: Riptide. Perhaps one of the Marauder clones acquired by Osborn and reprogrammed.
Spider Man: Venom (Flash Thompson). It just makes sense.

Captain America: Master Man. What would enrage Steve Rogers more than a Nazi wearing the American flag?
Iron Man: Iron Man 2.0. Stane's kid.
Hawkeye: Crossfire
Scarlet Witch: Squadron Sinister's female Dr. Spectrum
Ms. Marvel: Titania. She pulls a Hulk when it comes to jumping instead of flying.
Quicksilver: Speed Demon. Where is he nowadays anyhow? When'd he leave the Thunderbolts again? My memory is short.

Speed Demon stopped appearing in Thunderbolts when Warren Ellis came on board. After the final battle for the Wellspring, he sped away and hasn't been seen since.

According to the cover to Villains for Hire .1 though, he'll be appearing in that book.
