ALTERNATE VERSIONS
The original timeline of Earth-928 extended more than one thousand years into the future with the denouement 2099: Manifest Destiny #1. This one-shot was later retconned into an alternate timeline dubbed Earth-96943, leaving the conclusion of the 2099 universe open-ended for further stories.
The settlers who made their home in the Savage Land eventually established Xavier City. By the end of 2099, Xi'an Chi Xan was the city's representative to what remained of the world outside. He negotiated with Miguel O'Hara (restored as head of Alchemax) for the safe and public distribution of the metagene factor, among other rediscovered technologies previously lost to the early part of the century after the end of the Heroic Age. Despite himself, Xi'an Chi Xan eventually overcame his personal demons and emerged as a true leader of men. His work ensured the rise of transhuman humanity at the end of the 21st century when it previously failed in the Heroic Age at the start, meaning by any standard he managed to live up to the dream championed by Xavier and Magnus.
In an alternate 2099 visited by Eva Bell, Xi'an was working with the X-Men. He employed a wrist-mounted Cerebra unit to locate her. The state of his powers and whether he was leader of these X-Men 2099 is unknown.
