Clan Akkaba

All Appearances: Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #1-4, #13-18
Working for: Apocalypse/Archangel
Membership: Decimus Furius, Ichisumi, Jeb Lee, Sanjar Javeed, Psylocke

Before

  • Archangel was brutally attacked by a brainwashed Wolfsbane and his wings were ripped off. The trauma caused his metallic wings to re-grow in their place and his darker, blue-skinned Death persona to resurface. It was discovered he could revert between the two forms at will, although the Death persona was often easy to trigger by accident. [X-Force (3rd series) #3-6]
  • Off-panel before Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #1 [The team was chosen by Apocalypse hundreds of years before the previous modern line-ups as seen in flashbacks in Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #3]

Chronology

Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #1:

Wolverine sets up a new X-Force and orders Deadpool to investigate for any signs of Clan Akkaba activity. Deadpool finds a temple filled with cultists that are apparently trying to resurrect Apocalypse. After he is attacked and captured by a giant, stone minotaur, X-Force mounts a rescue mission and Psylocke discovers that the minotaur is actually the new Horseman of War. He is seemingly destroyed when Fantomex manipulates him into thinking he is in love with Psylocke. X-Force escapes and War reassembles himself. The temple is then relocated to the Moon, where the Horseman watch over the infant Apocalypse.

Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #2:

X-Force attacks the temple again, now on the Moon’s surface, but is met by War, destroys their spacecraft. X-Force is scattered and they realize they are surrounded by the other Horsemen. Famine makes short work of Archangel, whilst Pestilence takes out Deadpool. Wolverine and Fantomex manage to blast War into orbit, thanks to the low gravity, but he is saved by the new Death, riding on his flying carpet. Death effortlessly takes out the rest of X-Force.

Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #3:

Wolverine attacks Death, giving the others a chance to fight back. Psylocke is captured by War and dragged into the temple whilst Fantomex defeats Pestilence. Fantomex tricks Death with an illusion and X-Force escapes, leaving the Horsemen to retreat into the temple. War, still believing he is in love with Psylocke, has taken her back to his chambers but she plays along and knocks him out.

Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #4:

Famine, Pestilence and Death are tricked into going to another planet, thanks to Fantomex’s illusionary powers. When X-Force finds the infant Apocalypse, they are unsure what to do with it, but Fantomex decides for the group by coldly killing him.

In Between

  • Archangel’s Death persona becomes stronger and stronger until he attacks his team and is put in stasis. [Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #10] With the aid of Dark Beast, X-Force travels to the Age of Apocalypse reality to look for a life seed to purge the Death effects from him. Dark Beast soon betrays them and returns, leaving them stranded. He then wakes Archangel up and assembles the Horsemen and other allies. With Apocalypse dead, Archangel takes up the mantle of the leader of Clan Akkaba and the Horsemen and begins to enact his own plan to forward evolution. They set up base in a new temple hidden underneath the North Pole.

Chronology continued

Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #13:

With a life seed in hand, X-Force returns home only to be greeted by Archangel and the Horsemen.

Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #14:

X-Force and the Horsemen fight and X-Force barely manages to escape. Psylocke willingly stays with Archangel as a prisoner, in the hope of getting through to the old Warren within.

Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #15:

Archangel has wiped out a small town in Montana and the other Horsemen watch as he uses a life seed to create an entirely new ecosystem in its place. X-Force finds them and attacks, with Deathlok going up against Death. Fortunately, Death’s powers do not work on the already dead cyborg and the Horseman is decapitated. Famine is also captured and, after torture, reveals where to find the Clan Akkaba base.

Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #16:

Archangel mates with Pestilence and then turns Psylocke into the new Horseman of Death. He is joined by Famine, who has broken free of his constraints and returns to the Clan Akkaba base to help his allies against the attacking X-Force. However, Wolverine slices off his hands, putting an end to the use of his powers.

Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #17:

X-Force is soon joined by heroes from the Age of Apocalypse and together they help separate Psylocke from Archangel. Fantomex tricks Psylocke into thinking she has killed him, momentarily weakening her new Death persona and allowing the alternate Jean Grey to enter her mind. Using her immense telepathic power, Jean purges the effects of the death seed from Psylocke, returning her to normal.

Uncanny X-Force (1st series) #18:

As Archangel’s plans start to fall apart, only War and Pestilence remain of any use. Pestilence is revealed to be pregnant and so Dark Beast puts her welfare above all else, as she is carrying Archangel’s heir. When Archangel is effectively killed after being stabbed with the life seed, the remaining Horsemen escape.

After
